I definitely enjoy riding my 2018 Indian Scout Bobber, but here are a few things I would change (or may have changed already). Some are absolutely necessary, others are more of a personal choice.
The video ends with a quick ride through the Hawks Nest...

I don't mean to be critical, but do people understand what a bobber is built to offer? It's suppose be a short distance scoot, with power and aggressive looks. Stripped down and clean and simple. So to say you may need to change the shocks for a smoother ride or the seat hurts your butt after a 45 minute ride isn't really a con to the bike. It's not made for distance but to cut around town in and look cool doing it. But I still enjoyed your video...Just my 2 cents :)

August I agree entirely. I’ve had my Scout for 3 years now & it’s due for a trade in (PCP). I took the bobber out for a test ride today & I could recognise all of the comments that I’ve read on various reviews. I will be trading up to the Matt black 2019 bobber. I will not be changing anything - for the very reasons stated by August. Have you people got too much money & an irresistible desire to just keep customising and changing the stock bike. It’s perfect for what it is! To compare the suspension on the bobber to that of a Chieftan is just stupid. Buy a friggin Chieftan if that’s what you want.

Wellllll, yes.......but baseball caps also were invented to protect baseball players' eyes from the sunlight. And today are simply worn as a fashion accessory. So if someone does wear a baseball cap and says "if you wanna wear this all day long it helps to put a little cork strip behind the sweatband to prevent your sweat from soaking the screen" then - yes, technically baseball caps weren't built to be worn all day long but that's how a LOT of people are wearing them today. :)

LordMcMPA agreed but adding a cork strip shouldn’t be a con on how the hat was made.

I drive mine in LA daily. Few engine upgrades. The seat breaks in around 4k miles if you don't want to waste your money and still retain the better looking seat (imo) Still on the stock suspension as well and it also seemed to get better with time. Bike rides smooth now at 5k miles potholes and all.

#1 0:28 - Seat - Corbin #2 1:40 - Suspension - Progressive 444 Rear shocks, and Progressive front fork springs #3 4:08 - Foot pegs - not sure what to get yet #4 5:40 - Black Levers - not sure what to get yet #5 6:27 - Headlight - Motodemic Blacked out Question on the Moteodemic... I looked on the website and they don't list Indian at all. Is there a model that fits? also, where would you put exhaust and/or air intake? I guess I should look back at your other videos! ;) keep up the good work and happy riding!

Jeff Smith wow, nice touch on the breakdown by minutes, thanks! From motodemic: “Yes, we do offer a 5 3/4 unit for your model. The same light we use for our Triumph bobber will be the same fitment for your Indian Scout Bobber. motodemic.com/shop/led-headlight-for-triumph-bobber/ “ - I already bought it, once installed I’ll throw together a video confirming it works

for black levers try this guy. Bill Taylor. He does powder coat either your levers and will send back to you, or he can send u a set and you just send him your original ones. He does semi gloss or matte color. For your bike I would go with matte (flat black) finish. www.taylorspecialties.com/?page_id=5 I have received several items from him, as well as black levers and its all good stuff. He is a 1 man operation, so he cares about his products he puts out.

I got the FOX Shocks that are made for Indian. Granted I lost the slammed look. But I got a comfortable handling machine with that option.I also got the 1920 Tractor Seat to avoid the stock seat numbing of one's rear end. I am totally pumped with the simple changes.

I love my Corbin solo dude. It was the best money I’ve spent on the bike, just got one for my wife’s scout 60. I also put on pirelli night dragons on and I feel it went a long way in the smoothness of the ride. This is my first bike so I don’t know any better lol

I bought my scout in November of 2015, I had gel insert added inside of the stock seat made all the difference in the world. $150.00 done. Mine was ordered matte black with bronze package, the bronze looks very dark and compliments the blacked out version better than the chrome. Have never scraped pegs but I do not like the indian tires they only made it 7500 miles. Good vid thanks be safe.

Great video, man - thanks for sharing. I bought a standard scout 1200 last year and was relieved that they had changed the suspension over the original models; I'm hoping Indian will at least change the seat on the Bobber for next year. I'm 6'2" and the Scout is fine for me although I'm going to go for the extended reach footpegs which should help out on longer runs. I tried the extended reach seat but all it did was make me feel a little too high up on the bike so I'm going to try Indian's own Sports seat which features less of a 'rump' and enhances the long, low lines of the bike. Looking forward to your next video!

Thank you for the video. I agree with your picks. I've done the pegs, and went to an eagle led headlight. Just installed my exhaust. Springs are next, then the ass chewing seat. I haven't found black leavers either. With Indian releasing the flat track next year, how about fixing your current models? As a side note, Dazzle Rebel Rides is trying to pull Indian rider KZbinrs together if your interested. Happy father's Day!

if you are still looking at levers, look up this guy. He is on facebook. He can take your levers, during the off riding season, and powder coat yours either gloss or matte black and get them back to you real quick. Or you can just see if he has any already made, he ships them to you, and you can send your stock ones to him to keep from paying the "core" charge. He did a set for me in matte black, very happy with the work. www.taylorspecialties.com/?page_id=5

Just curious. I have the 2018 standard scout. I understand Indian upgraded the shocks from 2017 to 2018. In addition, the standard Scout has more travel. So, I'm curious, since I don't have a frame of references, is the 2018 an improvement over 2017 on the standard Scout?
@LordMcMPA
@LordMcMPA 4 жыл бұрын
I haven't heard about any suspension upgrade from the scout 17 to the scout 18. I can tell you, however, that the scout BOBBER has 2.5" left suspension travel than the regular scout. Is that maybe what you've heard/read and are referring to?

love my Bobber, but i couldn't agree more on the seat (already bought my damn Corbin) and i'm inclined to agree on the suspension, because i'm considering the 444s. i'm fine by myself, but it's killin the wife. i haven't scraped peg as much as you have by the sound of it (i get aggressive, but apparently not enough.. lol) but i'm wondering about your opinion of the tires? that was the second thing i noticed after the seat... those cheap ass Kendas are terrible and i have a 4" wide flat spot in the center after 4600 miles. gonna try out the Michelin Commander 2s when i bring her in for the 5000 mile service in a couple of weeks. that was just a bad marketing choice, in my opinion. side note, i'm about 2 hours from you over in Hyde Park... your area looks great.

the stock passenger seat will definitely fit with the Corbin... mine fits fine. as to being good or bad for a passenger, my wife doesn't mind it terribly, but the stock sissy bar seat puts the back pad too low for her and the ride is rough due to suspension (considering getting the Progressive 444s). plan atm is to get the rear seat reupholstered with softer foam (and this way it'll be a color match to the front, because Corbin's colors are off) and we'll go from there.
@Michael-eu1jg
@Michael-eu1jg 6 жыл бұрын
awesome thanks man. yeah I wish they had more colors so we didn't have to spend money on reupholstery just to get matching colors. Hopefully it'll be something they do in the near future

Nice video I couldn’t sit on the stock seat either and bought the Corbin seat. I also did the extended reach pegs those few inches really helped my comfort. Less cramped I’m 6 feet tall. I think the engineers really need to start paying attention to the touch surfaces on a motorcycle the rider experiences the grips pedals and seat. They need to be comfortable and durable cutting corners on these items is a mistake. Didn’t you also upgrade your exhaust?
@karchman3197

What a rambling load of shit. I am 5"11 and the bike is fine, sissy. "Indian get your stuff together!", (regarding suspension). It has minimal stroke & also what level of perfection is expected for 12K? You want the badass look, but also need an I-phone mount and cupholder. I yanked the converters from exhaust tails & installed $80 Kuryakyn mini-board's...done. Man up, or buy a Honda Silver Wing. Wife says OEM with mini-sissy is fine for our local trips, yet she weighs 125. Do you have a heavy-duty honey?
