The Indian thick-knee, also known as the Indian stone-curlew, is a ground-dwelling bird known for its distinctive running behavior. This species is primarily nocturnal and has adapted well to open, dry habitats such as scrublands, grasslands, and arid regions.
They often run in short bursts when foraging for food, pausing frequently to pick up insects, small invertebrates, and other prey items from the ground. This behavior is efficient for covering large areas while searching for food.
When threatened, Indian thick-knees prefer to run rather than fly.
Captured this behavior using Canon R3 + Canon RF 600mm f4 lens by handholding them.
