I was born and raised in Indiana. Breaded, fried pork sandwiches were always served at drive ins and diners. Another popular sandwich similar was the chuck wagon. Both always hung way over the bun. I love them both.

Hoosier native here. Nice work on the sandwich. As others have pointed you, you can find those everywhere. A healthier version is grilled. Another common thing to see is the tenderloin so big it covers the plate, while the bun is a standard burger bun 😂. Cheers everyone!

This is the way restaurants used to make a pork sandwich, and why I loved them growing up. Now very few places still do it this way - half the time they are frozen round patties thrown in a fryer and onto the bun. Yuk! Thanks for showing a classic and best way to make the sandwich! Cheers!

One of the things I love most about your videos is that we get to see you take the extra time and effort to make the meal as best as you can. I worked as a line cook for several years, and one of the things I hated most about that job was the rush to get food out. I never, EVER put out anything that I wouldn't eat myself, but you definitely don't get to take the time to do everything your way. The way you cook in your videos so closely resembles home cooking in all of the right ways. You found an enviable niche in a very difficult field. Keep up the good work, man 👍

"Your chef knife will work fine...if it's sharp." I was born in northern Indiana, but I never heard of Indiana Fried Pork. I moved to Germany sixty years ago, however, so I know all about Schnitzel. We do the same, but use milk, then flour, then egg and then bread crumbs. Wiener Schnitzel is actually made with veal, but because of the price of veal pork schnitzel has become more popular. In any case the idea is about the same and it's delicious. Thanks! I love your videos.

I never knew these sandwhiches originated in Indiana? I was born & raised in Iowa & I grew up eating these ... there used to be a lot of restaurants that made them homemade & they were sooo good. I only know of a few left that have the original "breaded pork tenderloin" sandwich. A lot of the fastfood places have a sandwich with the same name as these ...you gotta watch out tho because some of them are actually called "pork fritters" & they're okay but absolutely no comparison to the original. Yum!

Hey KevMo I have a question for you. When you fry something up at home, what do you do with the oil afterwards? I know you're not supposed to put it down the drain, but it's also kind of a mess to put it in the garbage can as well. How do you dispose of it?
@spockhozzer7207 Жыл бұрын
I pour mine onto a dish and wipe it off with paper towels once it's cool enough to not burn me. It will solidify as it cools

Amazon sells a powder that you sprinkle on the oil and it solidifies it. Afterwards all you have to do is toss it in the garage.

Tenderloins are great here in Iowa as they are in Indiana. You nailed it with cutting out the potentially chewy bits off the bat. Nothing ruins a tenderloin more than that chewy texture or making it too thick. Yours looked perfectly smashed and crispy.
