I’ve got a very similar Akubra Federation IV in grey, it’s my go to outdoor hat. I didn’t have any idea what “the turn” was when I bashed it, but I ended up doing just that by accident. It’s taken on it’s own unique version of the Cairo hat after years of wearing it out in the wild. Great hats. Just recently got myself an Akubra Snowy River , really loving that one, too.

Odd thing about the bash. I barely found out myself about 7 years ago. I was reading on line. Good to hear!

This is a great hat from akubra, great for any occasion, and, for Indy cosplay.

Once you start feeling how the Felt loosens up, and shapes it is really interesting. I own a few Akubra hats. Got an old "Snowy River" that looks completely different then what was sold. Changed the shape many times. Distressed it to add character, gross grain band ect. The thing I like about this brand above many others is the fact Akubra handles weather very well. Pouring rain isn't a huge issue unlike the Average Steston. Imagine a cowboy hat not being able to handle soaking rains?! Cool thing is it will get more character with age so Wear it hard!

use a better steamer...like something that boils water...need alot of steam...makes all the creases so much smoother
@Bert-xi1dn3 жыл бұрын
In fact, no steam is being used at all. It’s vapour. Difference being that steam is at boiling temperature (you wouldn’t want that on you face). Having said that, for the inexperienced like me vapour is probably a better way to go. I think Akubra in fact recommends shaping the hat when it’s a bit moist and leave working with steam to the pro’s.

Hats have always been important to me. I remember spending $500 on a hat when I was making $9/hr. These days I mostly make my own hats or buy vintage and restore/refurb.

I own the exact same fedora from the same place. You can also have them bash it for you. I love the hat it has more of a last crusade look then the other previous movies hats. On a side note I like your video I like the music you play but sometimes it's a little distracting when I'm trying to hear you speak so you may have to at least turn it down a little bit or none at all. Overall nice video 👍👍

An original "Indiana Jones" hat is a brazilian hat by Cury
@aconstantlyracingmind83433 жыл бұрын
I remember seeing this on Indy Gear last year: "At the core of the Poet was a high-quality rabbit felt from Cury, a hat factory out of Brazil. Cury would ship raw felt bodies to Herbert Johnson where they would then go through the precise, old-world method of creating a finely crafted top-shelf fedora..." "...They stopped using Cury as a source of their felt for the Poet and began using another felt supplier of lower quality." thanks for the info!

Sorry to be so honest, but that way of modeling a Fedora is not correct. Not only the way to do it but also the end result.
@aconstantlyracingmind83433 жыл бұрын
I've done more work on it since. Maybe I'll do another video. thanks for the honesty.

That particular 'Adventurer' model was made exclusively for David Morgan. Unfortuntaly Akubra has discontinued many models over the last 18 months to slim down production due to the pandemic.
