Indiana Jones Akubra Hat Update

Since I've purchased this hat I have been on a few outdoor adventures and I wanted to show how it holds up.

As Adam Savage has said, DO NOT PINCH YOUR HAT. Put it on by the brim. Luckily I learned that early. Hat is still solid.

💯 if you keep grabbing it by the pinch you will definitely wear a hole in it. Also,hang dry in a cool room. Avoid heat when drying or it will shrink.

I also have this hat, and I dunk mine in the river like a bucket and plop it back on my head to keep me cool on long hikes during the summer when it’s 110+ out. For anyone wondering the liner and band still look new, I’ve had it since 2018 and I’ve beat the piss out of it and it always shapes up like new.

I own an AKUBRA BANJO PATTERSON hat.....A super well made, high quality fur felt, that will last a lifetime plus. I use my AKUBRA for daily wear (jeans/casual) to woods hiking and camping. You don't have to be gentle with these hats. You can really put the wear and tear to them....and with a hat brush, light tea kettle steam, reshape and clean it. THESE HATS ARE QUALITY MADE TO LAST.

I have my Akubra hat sitting on my shelf. Seeing as though I just got a Herbert Johnson Fedora. Which both are amazing. The Akubra’s are built like a tank though. Lol

Man, I've watched this video far more than I would like to admit. I live in Australia, and annoyingly, you cannot buy the Adventurer inside of Australia. Bloody nuisance. I've been using these videos as reference in order to hodge-podge my own Adventurer together using different Akubras. Doubt that's why you made the video, but it has been invaluable! Very glad you're enjoying your hat. An Akubra will serve you well from Everest to the Mariana trench. Hope it serves you well in all your adventures. All the best! :)

The truth is, I wish I would have purchased the Federation IV version of the Adventurer. It has a slightly higher/wider crown, however, they were out of stock when I was looking for a hat. It really has been great. Absolutely solid. Could you order it from the US and have it shipped to Australia?

@@rootieboy Oh, interesting. I purchased a Fed IV as an alternative to the Adventurer. Not much a fan of it myself, the brim was a touch too short for my liking. I considered buying it from David Morgan and getting it shipped, but ~$400AUD didn't seem quite worth it, even for something as treasured as an Akubra! Hope you're keeping well.

Awesome video! Thank you for sharing. Is this the Akubra Adventure hat in Mid Brown? Just curious. It looks grey in some shots and brown in others LOL? I’m Looking for a good Indiana Jones style hat.

The lining shouldn’t be attached so you can clean etc.

Put olive oil or cocanet oil on the inside of the sweatband.. Js...it wont shrink the band..itll make it last for several years......the felt most likely is rabbit..witch is good...its lasts a long time

Careful pinching you're hat it is the most common way they get holes. That akubra can last decades!

Another great thing about Akubra hats.. you can steam them to reshape, freshen them up. Check out videos Kevin from JJ hat center. He is the best!

It's an Akubra, which is Australian and the Herbert Johnson Fedora was based off of the Australian style. I've handled a Herbert Johnson and it's beautiful, but also $550. I would wear the Herbert Johnson for fine dining, but I wouldn't put it through a beating. The Herbert Johnson is also quite flimsy, so I'd compare it to a tuxedo and the Akubra to the reality of what the hat would have to endure.

The lining is purposely not sewn in.

@@rootieboy 1: so it can be removed if desired or need’s to be replaced. 2:Sewing it in is more permanent and difficult to both install or remove.
