This game is actually the official sequel to Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. Also, I own a copy of every version of this game: the PC version, the N64 version (my favorite), and even the GameBoy Color version, witch I find incredible that they managed to convert an entire 2-disc PC game with still smooth animation, most of the music, the entire story AND all the levels into a tiny 1-square-inch GameBoy cartridge.

Lara Croft was supposed to be a whip weilding man at first but they couldn't do that since that "image" was copyrighted. That's the only reason the main character of tr became a woman - to move far enough away from the Iniana Jones the game was based on.

Y'know, George Lucas was right - Indy was made for video games. Unfortunately they didn't really give him his due. I remember when this came out. I was in 8th grade and it was awesome (if slightly outdated in terms of graphics). It was very immersive. I remember falling in love with the game during the Shambhala Sanctuary level. The Russian ship and then the Meroe level just cemented it for me. When Emperor's Tomb came out several years later, I liked it even more, but IMO the gameplay choices late on in that game really scuppered the experience. I still think Istanbul is an all-time best Indiana Jones gaming experience, though. And I still think there's a market for it. Harrison Ford could even do the voice. He never used to, but I think that if they really went all out and made an awesome new Indy game, he could be coaxed to do the voice work.

Did anyone else call the LucasArts tip line for help with this game like I did? Boy, that sure does date all of us! Kids today can just watch a walk through like this to advance to the next level!

No, we usually use our brains and eventually figures it out. Even back then. I don't know what kids do today, because I'm not a kid anymore, so I can't speak on their behalf.

This is so exciting to see the comment section here honestly. Some how some way, I completely missed this game when the n64 was current. I learned about it a few months ago from my brother (who actually happens to be younger than me) and I just bought it. Supposed to arrive soon and I cant wait to play it. I was told it's really one of the best n64 games. So I'm very excited for this one. Always great to learn about games on consoles you love that you missed. Cheers.

I couldn't get this on steam and my computer (windows 10) was not compatible, plus I remember the controls were very awkward (no mouse) so thank you sir for this video. Nostalgia from 18 years ago...

This looks fantastic, the detail on the photos the graphics are tight overall. The story is quite indiana jones when you see it as a film on your head too. Plus it has dolby surround sound, wearing headphones you hear waterfalls rota around him accurately as he runs past. The music's good and very indy. Defo feel like I missed not checking this backing in the day

Finally beat the game. I really like the theme of the game here - despite the man-made horrors beyond comprehension, the intellectual passion for archeology triumphs over political indifferences.

There is also a aim lock feature that is not being used here, makes it so much easier to shoot things.

Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine is an action-adventure video game by LucasArts released in 1999. The first 3D installment in the series, its gameplay focuses on solving puzzles, fighting enemies, and completing various platforming sections. The story is set in 1947, after the events of Indiana Jones and the Iron Phoenix, and puts the eponymous protagonist, the adventurer Indiana Jones, against the Soviet Union. In a race for a mythological Babylonian power source, he joins forces with the Central Intelligence Agency and collects four pieces of the Infernal Machine, an ancient device that allegedly opens a portal to another dimension.

I loved this game back in 1999 when I was 22. While not groundbreaking I think it's a beautiful example of what games looked like when developers were just coming out of the 16-bit console era and getting their hands dirty with serious 3D programminng. Not only the devs though; level designers, graphic designers, marketing, senior management all the way down to the lowly game testers (joke - much respect to all my QA kingpins) had to step up their game (excuse the pun) during the transition. Anyway, I think (on reflection) this game captures all those efforts perfectly.

Thehorizonaviator Widescreen makes it glitched like that. Actually I remember on an old W98 computer I had, for some reason the thing was just squarish (even if it was round before on the same computer). But at the same time the game had a hell lots of problems with this computer, first the logo at the very beginning of Canyonlands was just a black square, no music, the very last jump just before meeting Sophia was impossible, he would never grab, except one time but the glitch happened again just after in Babylon, when trying to jump onto the first building. Also cutscenes had texture issues, for example Sophia had plain white hair, the papers and the wheels of the mechanism as well, etc... I actually wouldn't mind experiencing these bugs again, it's part of my childhood somehow, I was like 5 years old or something.
