It's Indiana Jones, and with a Follin brothers soundtrack!

The opening demo had me thinking the sound design was butchered because I couldn't hear any sound effects. "This is a Follin Bros. production?" I asked. Then, it became obvious that it was a demo. I don't quite get why they ported the Game Boy edition over to the NES three years later when this is clearly the better of the two.

It's no La Mulana, but I'll take this over 5 hours of cutscenes.

That was cool. I've never seen it played all the way through. I liked the music a lot. Thank You.

Wow, to say they took liberties with the story of the movie to fit into an NES game would be an understatement.

I guess the developers forgot that in Latin, Jehovah starts with an 'I'.

As did Indy in the movie, but he was able to save himself from falling.

I never did rent this one back then. Looks like Software Creations was pretty ambitious with dedicating so much ROM space to stills from the movie. It's a shame that seems to have come at a cost to the actual gameplay. Not saying it looks bad, basically it's collection of mini-games with a lot of them appearing to be really hard! I did have to look up the different between this one and the Ubisoft game from 1993, that one is basically a port of the 1989 game released for the home computers of the day.

Loving the soundtrack.

The music is good, but I can't shake the feeling that it's like it was taken from some other game and slapped onto Indiana Jones.

Where's the minigame of Jones getting in bed with Elsa? Heard she talks a lot in her sleep.

This one give similar vibes as Terminator 2 for the NES. Is it from the same developers?

Not sure what's worse. That the game doesn't tell you need to spell out Jehovah to cross temple floor, or the fact that Jehovah doesn't begin with an "I". I mean it had a whole scene in the movie and everything.
@NintendoComplete4 күн бұрын
That actually is a proper spelling of it.

There is more gameplay in this games first level than the entirety of that barely interactive CG animated movie that just released.

Guess there's merit to try this one out again. (I do love me some Follin brothers' BGM work!) Software Creations? I never would have thought they'd have a hand in making the Taito ver. The Ubisoft version from what I've learned was developed by NMS Technologies, who also did those shoddy NES ports of the Virgin Games' Aladdin and Prince of Persia.
@NintendoComplete4 күн бұрын
Iirc it wasn't the first thing they did for Taito. They also did Sky Shark. Yeah, NMS also made that horrible Lion King game 😞 They sucked.

Sadly, I don't have an Xbox Series X or an RTX computer on me to play the game that inspired this video. I'll have to wait for the PS5 version that's slated for "Spring 2025". I was a big fan of the Atari arcade game but never played much else Indiana Jones. Of course, I played Tomb Raider and Uncharted games which owe a huge debt to the Indiana Jones movies.

Wow, doubling down on a line by Han Solo when you’re actually Indiana Jones feels like a special kind of doofus mistake by these game makers.

Honestly, the only Indiana Jones game from that period I liked was The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles (and the Fate of Atlantis, as far as adventure games go). Other than that, I prefer the 3D games based on this franchise, they gel better with me.
@NintendoComplete4 күн бұрын
Young Indiana Jones was good, but I thought Fate of Atlantis was amazing. Classic Lucasarts adventure, all the way.
