I OWN NOTHING! This was a request. Music is by John Williams and is from Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Soundtrack. This is a compilation of just about every version of the Ark Theme I could find. Unfortunately the piece from Last Crusade wasn't officially released, so it isn't included. Enjoy!

@@heitormedina7098Its name is a reflection of the “covenant” YHWH (Israel’s God) makes with Israel, and the Ark, intended as a physical resting spot for YHWH’s presence and meeting place with Israel’s leaders, is a holy example of that. The “covenant” YHWH makes is with his people, Israel, that he will be their God in exchange for their devotion to him. The Ark (chest) is one physical expression of that.

Thank you for this! The best and by far the most complete compilation of this amazing theme. It’s wondrous, isn’t it? Williams uses only three notes, and yet, like the Ark itself, it can simultaneously evoke mystery, wonder, temptation, and danger. As Einstein said, beyond smarts, intelligence, brilliance, and genius, there is the true pinnacle of achievement: the simple.

It’s so creepy and yet so “holy-sounding” at the same time. The Ark is an object of holy horror. There’s something fascinating about that. This music captures that sense of the Ark perfectly. It’s interesting because in fiction, horror generally is associated with Satan and his evil, but here it’s associated with God and his holiness.

Genesis 19:23-26 (NIV): 23 By the time Lot reached Zoar, the sun had risen over the land. 24 Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah-from the Lord out of the heavens. 25 Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, destroying all those living in the cities-and also the vegetation in the land. 26 But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt. 1 Samual 6:19-20 (NIV) 19 But God struck down some of the inhabitants of Beth Shemesh, putting seventy of them to death because they looked into the ark of the Lord. The people mourned because of the heavy blow the Lord had dealt them. 20 And the people of Beth Shemesh asked, “Who can stand in the presence of the Lord, this holy God? To whom will the ark go up from here?” 2 Samual 6:6-7 (NIV) 6 When they came to the threshing floor of Nakon, Uzzah reached out and took hold of the ark of God, because the oxen stumbled. 7 The Lord’s anger burned against Uzzah because of his irreverent act; therefore God struck him down, and he died there beside the ark of God.
