I was born in Shoals in 1957. When I was young, my babysitter was Opal Horner. Her husband, Herman, worked on the railroad. At an appointed time, we would walk out in the backyard. The train would go by, and Herman would be on the caboose waving his handkerchief at us. A sweet memory!
