The real problem is Jim Irsay. Irsay meddles too much with the team. Ballard has lasted 8 years because he does what Irsay wants. Irsay kicked Manning out when he was down with an injury. Manning went on to play with Denver in two Superbowls winning one. It is one of the worst moves in NFL history.

Releasing Manning was a hideous miscalculation that changed the trajectory of the franchise for the worse forever. Irsay stepped in with the Wentz and Reich decisions, but overall is good about staying in the background.

The fact that Irsay would make a knee-jerk decision and get rid of Manning tells you everything you need to know about him. Irsay is the worst owner in the NFL. I’m from Houston Tx born and raised and still live here and been a Colts fan since Peyton got drafted. Houston is a hub for all sorts of fans of different NFL teams (not everyone is a Texans fan) but damn, it’s getting really hard to be a Colts fan here since there are rarely any other Colts fans here to have these conversations with. I honestly don’t see any future to this team as long as Ballard is here. Richardson as much as I love the kid, isn’t starting QB material and if he is, he’s got the wrong coaching staff developing him. But I don’t blame the coaching staff as the primary reason why this team is a dump. Ballard is the one who year after year neglected the QB position. As far as trades/ free agents, he didn’t go after Stafford, Brady or Lamar when he had the chance. Didn’t trade up to get Justin Herbert, instead used our first round pick for Buckner who I love as well and have his jersey; but let’s be real- Buckner alone isn’t gonna win us a SB. Ballard has hit on a few good draft picks but that’s not enough to keep him around!

Who has the Colts drafter that 31 other teams would want.. Maybe Downs, maybe Pittman. He has two 1st round, and a 2nd round draft DE. They can get no pressure and both Paye, and Dayo are not guys worth resinging . 1 of those 3 had to hit. They are functional at LB, and have DBs or the rush prevents them from having good DBs. Traded the first twice for active players, one good one an abject failure. So its a wash. Since they have at best a mediocre QB you cant make up for bad drafts. To argue Richardson will magically be a competent thrower is simply kicjing the can down the road again.

Anyone is better than Ballard. Being worried that the next person is going to be worse is a losing attitude. Ballard is the definition of mediocre. And is setting this organization back further and further the longer it's here at least a bad GM would get good draft picks and get fired. He retains his job and keeps a mediocre record. It's almost worse in my opinion.

AR5 is a bust! He stinks up the field week after week, and all of the Indy "media" just keep coming up with excuses. I am so tired of pretending like hes gonna improve.
