Joe Flacco wasnt brought in to win games, in as much as he was here to teach AR how to read a defense, and how to prepare for a NFL game. It’s hard to find a back-up where he not only can be a great example, but also teach and not lose a NFL game in a pinch. Joe Flacco might be the best back-up QB in the league and until you have a better option, you can’t let him just walk away. I think the Colts concentrate on a TE and two decent corner backs but want a Defensive coordinator to have say in the corners.
@KentSterling3 күн бұрын
Joe Flacco has this image as a mentor for Richardson. He was not. He spent his time preparing to play, and it's good that he good. Colts have a QB coach. Flacco was not that and will never be that.

Night and day difference between AR and Flacco for drops. AR had a total of 5 drops by Colts WRs and Flacco had 9. Drops happened on 2.9% of AR's 172 targets, and 5.9% on Flacco's 153 targets. So drops were a bigger issue affecting Flacco than Richardson. THE #1 PROBLEM for the Colts was NEVER drops. It was passing accuracy. Flacco threw CATCHABLE PASSES on 71.9% of his attempts which is just a hair under the NFL average for a QB. Richardson threw CATCHABLE PASSES on 51.7% of attempts. That is not only horrific, it was the WORST of any QB this season. The next worst QB was at 61%. Colts don't need competition at the QB position. They need a total replacement.

@kevinsobiski52123 күн бұрын
Agree with most of your assessments of Colts FAs except for Granson. Drops way too many balls. TE needs to be a priority for Ballard. There needs to be somebody that Richardson can lean on in the < 15 yard range. Always seemed like when he was running around trying to avoid the rush that everybody was 30 yards downfield. And, just bring in a lot of competition for positions on defense whether that is FAs or picks. Once Carlies went down early in the season, you couldn't bench EJ Speed because there was no quality LB depth.
@KentSterling3 күн бұрын
If you can sign him cheap, he's a worthwhile backup to Warren or Loveland.

Yesterday I watched with interest your pod cast outlining reasons to keep Anthony Richardson versus reasons to send him packing. After covering all the reasons both ways, I noticed that at no time did you mention bringing in a new QB and letting that guy spend time on the bench learning the ins & outs from one Joe Flacco, who has probably forgotten more about playing that position than most QB's will ever know. How come?
