Gunnar introduces the Indiana Barracuda High Aspect Foil

Just had a chance to try out the barracuda 950 here in Chumpon thailand, and loved it. I'm a heavier rider and a lot of foils this size drop out on me when i slow down, or drop off the back of a wave. It never dropped once even at very slow speeds. It had great speed and glide, and carving in the waves. For me its an all around great foil, and have ordered a 950, and would like to get the 1050 as well.

Thanks for the video full of information! I have a few questions since I am using the Indiana Manta XL for flat water pumping with FoilDrive and the Marlin M for wingfoil in medium winds. 1- which are the differences between the Manta XL and the Barracuda XL? Which one is better for ‘surfing’ not breaking and not powerful 30-40 cm waves? 2- Which are the differences from the Marlin and the Barracuda in wingfoil? Thanks 🤙

Hi Michele, 1) The Manta XL is basically the 1396P. So it is designed for beginner Pumpfoilers. It has a much thicker and slower gliding profile than the Barracuda XL. If the Waves you are riding have any speed, you want to use the Barracuda to stay on them. Also the Barracuda is more agile as it's the "smaller" foil. 2) The Marlin is a Medium Aspect Ratio and the Barracuda is a High Aspect ratio. More Aspect Ratio means more glide and less resistance. The Marlin is easier to carve, but is not as glidy. The Barracuda glides like crazy and is super fast, but needs a bigger radius to turn (in the water). The Barrracuda also has a lower stall speed. @ thanks! Very clear and I believe that your answer will be very useful also to other people. For me it is clear now that I will have to buy a Barracuda XL or L, too. Moreover I noticed that I could reuse my actual mast and monobloc tail buying only the front and the stab…good! Thanks 🤙
