I am working at a deemed-to-be private university, and the situation here is in a dire state. Faculty members are trapped in an unfavorable environment. Over the past ten years, most staff have been working with the same salary, except few. The university is even refusing to issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for attending interviews elsewhere. There are numerous issues that need to be addressed to establish a sustainable system.

Dear Editorial Team, please kindly remove the shorthand form of IIT-K from the thumbnail or simply change that to IIT-KGP. If your team is not familiar with the shorthand forms, then it's better not to mention it. IIT-K is for IIT Kanpur(in Uttar Pradesh) & IIT-KGP is for IIT Kharagpur(in West Bengal). It will definitely create a huge controversy and confusion in the future. So, in simple words, just don't use shorthand forms for the sake of using it.

There also exists a different form of nepotism in Indian institutes and I urge the authorities to look at it. I’ve worked in top institutions of the country and I observe that a Bengali or Malayali faculty would select at-least half of their students who are Bengali and Malayali? Isn’t that favoritism and nepotism? Besides many a times you see that a person B doing PhD under some A who be related to each other via some person B (an acquaintance). Besides, no just humanities, but several departments (including sciences) in big institutes have a huge foreign influence and are acting against Indian national interests. These people only work for their own self-interests. We need a list to be prepared of all such students and faculties and dismiss them ASAP.

What to say: 'grapes are sour' for most of us.. IITs rejected us, now we hardly even care. No, really what I could say is, imagine the nepotism faced by PhD students... Their future depends on something that is at the mercy of anyone but themselves. With corruption crawling on all avenues, it was only a matter of time before it crept up to the highest academia. I feel for you, but there is little we can do. Now go and introspect how many of the IIT brilliant minds cared to do anything for their grand institution. If they were holding powerful positions in India, could this have ever happened?
