Speaking at the AICC Meeting on 17th January, 2014, Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said, "It is an opportune moment for all of us to refresh our memories that we belong to such a great party led by leaders with a sense of love, compassion and sacrifice."
"People have again and again reposed their faith in the Congress party, because there cannot be any political party which has an existence across the country. Today the parties who are talking big do not have their presence throughout the country."
"In the past ten years there have been a number of instances where many of our opponents were trying to show to the world that many good things that have happened did not actually happen. It is a fact that many of the issues have tended to overshadow many of the good things that have been done. But the fact is that ground reality itself is a reflection of the visible impact that has taken place because of many revolutionary decisions taken by our leadership who had the political will and conviction and determination. That is why today we see completely different scenario across the world with assertive and vigilant civil society."
He said this has been facilitated because our leadership wanted to ensure that it kept its commitment to empower the people of our great nation. And that empowerment has today created the kind of scenario where we have an assertive and vigilant civil society. And because of the revolutionary decisions of our party to empower the people through legislations like the Right to Information, the approach to governance by all political parties and all those people in power has completely changed."
