I remember the show when I was a kid. In British slang. Crumpet means a good looking sexy woman. .good show. Glad you like British humor. ☺️👍

0:43 The one where Ranji's been sneaking them home comforts actually takes place after this sequence; that was episode 5 while this is episode 4. 1:38 "With a shiny scrubbed face, and smelling of carbolic soap." 4:43 The dynamic amounts to the bombardier (corporal) and gunners (rank & file) are conscripts who want to avoid the fighting aspect of the military as much as possible, while the sergeant major (warrant officer) is a career soldier desperate to get back into the fight, but the captain and colonel are mildly military souls who want to coast through the war. The net result is that the British Other Ranks and the commissioned officers are almost on the same page, using every possible angle to avoid going to the front.

Officially "a crumpet" is a type of bread snack. Calling women "crumpet" is like saying they are tasty like a cake or a cookie.

If toasted, hot.

crumpet- often served hot and buttered, very tasty , also used as innuendo to imply an attractive woman. A fairly quaint and old-fashioned expression.

Have you heard the single "whispering green grass" and seen the video that came with it?
