I don't know what is sahayak system in the army. My brother in the army says that he's a given a gardener, a cook & a dhobiwala to wash his uniform... He says he only uses the dhobiwala cuz to wash his uniform only cuz it requires special way to wash it to maintain the color & the clothes. My sister in laws does the rest from cooking (cuz manipuri dishes can't be cooked by the non-manipuri)& she loves to cook, she grows her garden but sometimes take help of the malli assigned...she washes all the family clothes except the uniforms ... So, using the dhobiwala to wash only the army uniform, is that sahayak system?

I am from an army background. I have seen my father, grandfather talking about the same. This Jawan is absolutely right. Officers are like dictators. Unke bachho ko tution chorna,unke kutte ghumana,ghass katna, sabji Lana,etc. etc....Reply to GD Bakshi sir- providing cover fire etc. Is the actual job but ghar ki safai karna,etc. Is not the job. Lower rank jinke pass koi proper kaam nahi hota (due to being in excess number) toh busy rakhne kai liye kuch na kuch pakda dete hai. But abb changes aa rahe hai. Officers kai kaam na mile, phir bhi busy rakhne kai liye kuch na kuch toh milega kyunki khali dimaag shetan ka ghar. US army mai bhi mop pakda dete hai, lower ranks ko, saaf jamin ko saaf karne kai liye. Jab ek concrete kaam fix ho jaata (matlab rank increase) hai toh yeh sab nahi hota. But yes, hope they should replace it with academic activities.

My father is in paramilitary force and yes! it happens there in the military by officers just like higher class oppression on lower class people. Modi govt. must intervene on such topics because it's there from the beginning of Republic India. There should be a strict law regarding this kind of internal affairs with in the force. Many soldiers attempt suicide because of atrocities of their commanders. One of my friend's father did that when we were young , we know how it's feels coz I'm a son of a soldier too. This is so disturbing , a person detached for months or even a year from his home not to serve anyone's personal labor. Govt.must take these stuffs as a threat coz it definitely harms the Integrity of armed forces.

This "system" was exposed by a US military service member who was in India participating in some joint training a few years back. According to her, she couldn't believe this type of shit was going on. Afterwards, it was completely hushed up possibly not to affect US-Indo ties. India follows old British rules and traditions. Tie to drop this crap. How can you expect fighting synergy when you alienate your own rank and file soldiers of all levels. The officers at top will never act to stop it since they benefit from it the most.
