Nobody seams to realise.. They're in Britain where it is cold.. In colder places things will not go off as fast as they would as in say 'Australia' (Where I live) so they would not put their bread in the fridge because it doesn't go off as fast in colder areas :3

As several other people have stated you can keep bread in the freezer to keep it fresh longer. This is handy when you only need say, one or two hot dog or hamburger rolls and they come in packs of 8 or 10. Also, in certain places, you keep everything edible in the fridge because the vermin are nearly impossible to get rid of...

Keeping bread in the fridge means it will last twice as long; plus it doesn't fucking freeze, it just gets cold. But you fix that anyway by toasting it, so why NOT keep it in the fridge. Of course if you're sharing a household with someone, you don't put bread in the fridge because you generally eat it quick or don't mind throwing a slice or two away. As someone by themselves or maybe a student or whatnot, you kinda'wanna'keep food fresh as long as possible, as such bread in fridge(*not in the fkin freezer) is the way to go.

Although as a student I used to keep my bread in the fridge, it's actually detrimental to the breads lifespan.Yes, things do last longer when they're kept cold, but the extra life bought by fridge occupation is massively offset by the high amounts of moisture. Essentially, your bread will last the same amount of time it will last in a bread bin, it will just be soggier... Hope this comment helps 10 months later! :D

***** you should either keep it air-tight and dry somewhere and eat it within a week or so, or freeze it to preserve it for weeks, and slowly defrost it when you need it (or put it in the oven, but not too long) That will keep it the freshest.

Bread in the freezer (not fridge) keeps your bread from drying out. It only takes a couple of minutes to unfreeze... good solution if you buy a lot of bread at once.

My family puts bread in the fridge as we don't go through it fast and partly because I can't reach the cabinets (curse being 18 and still 4'10"). We usually also have a loaf in the freezer. The freezer thing makes sense, as most people put bread or rollls in the freezer and then defrost it for use xD But putting bread in the fridge tends to make go stale quicker (in my experience) so you get less nice sandwiches...then again I rarely buy bread so I just stick it in the cupboard and eat it fast.
