Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas with lots of love and laughter! It has been an amazing year for me, thanks to all of you! I have a question for people who like this type of music. I heard Lord Huron on KEXP a few years ago and got hooked. I had no idea what type of music it was until the gal I'm seeing mentioned it's basically folk. So, I visited Vegas from Seattle a month ago and hiked in the Valley Of Fire and Red Rocks while listening to Lord Huron, and I found myself drawn to open spaces in nature. When I turn this video on, it makes me want to go walking/exploring/hiking or honestly just sitting on a bench somewhere away from everything, where it's open, quiet, and beautiful. I just heard of Maggie Rogers, and now I want this even more.. So my question is, what is it about open spaces and folk music? And more importantly, what is it about us that makes us drawn to open spaces? =) I work in corporate America and make good money, but I'm so tempted to sell the house, bail on the job, and just move out to Montana or something, not because i'm unhappy, but because I'm SO much happier in places where commercialism, materialism, and general 'fakeness' isn't visible, if that makes sense. Any thoughts appreciated!
