I managed to get a Freebord 5x with the IndieGoGo deck in 85 CM a couple of months ago. While it cost me $670 for everything, and my stepdad was beyond unhappy with me about it, it's the best thing I've spent my money on in a long time. The 5x has now become an extension of my legs, and I genuinely feel like I'm playing Sonic Riders in real life every time I ride down hills with this board! So while the person on Ebay that sold me the board paid for the campaign and may have their name on the board, the deck may as well have my name on it because I bought the board and have used it relentlessly ever since. There may be longboard riders that I occasionally run into here, but there's only one Freebord rider here in Portland, Oregon, and you're looking at him. 😊

@@MatschinHandstand It's an UNBELIEVABLE experience. I will say, I'm really not a fan of the black springs that they originally come in, and I currently use the blue springs on mine. If you do go the blue springs route, it's gonna feel a little bit odd at first because the older boards don't have that more relaxed transition from edge to edge that the 5x has, but after a few days, you'll be just fine, and it'll feel like a dream. My 5x journey was essentially: I hated the black springs despite the effort I put into getting used to them, so I then tried the red ones. I really enjoyed that for a while, but then after a month or two of that I tried the blue springs because I really wanted the ability to do S turns. Now I only use the blue springs. 😁

I had a freebord back in 2006, a year of riding it, i went on a snowboarding vacation and after about an hour of getting used to the changes, jumped through like 3 groups of snowboard lesson groups/ levels. Catching an edge on concrete while not very fun at all, teaches you very quickly how important your edges are, and to always be on one!

@@easy_riders where are the trucks manufactured? and how long did they take to engineer? very interesting. I do product design and have worked with some big company's in regular skateboarding and I used to design long boards and long board products trucks and wheels.
@easy_riders7 ай бұрын
@@TRAVIESO_NA Im not too sure about how long they took to make, I guess the most difficult part might be supply chains? The tough design problems are a durable and light realigning swivel castor and split trucks which can take a lot of sheer force. (At least that's my understanding!)

Hey Easy! Nice video, as always! I've been following you for a while, and you were the main influence on me getting my 5X board! One question is that I don't see free borders traversing too much like you would when snowboarding; most go straight down and carve more like speed checks. Is it possible to carve side to side like you would on a snowboard? Cheers!
@justalpha91387 ай бұрын
It is, but that comes with a ton of practice. You can't dig as deep with your heels and toes like you can with a snowboard, but the 5x is as good as it gets (and possibly may EVER get) in this sense. Doing s turns with a blue springs 5x is a dream. 😁
@easy_riders7 ай бұрын
I've never tried carving at high speed with the freebord like snowboarders do, you might find a similarity in feathering on the freebord though? (Holding light toe/heelside and going as straight as possible to go fast, I covered this in The Art of Bombing video) Glad to hear you've been following for a while and I'm glad you decided to try the 5X! 👊

It definitely take some getting use to but once you're used to it theyre great. They feel secure but also easy to jump out of.
