@@xpro1173 Ye, its all a matter of opinion. Also, about the 'right cause' thing. I think its a good thing that you end up killing the entity, as i think its more bad than good. Here are my reasons: 1. The thing is aggressive: if it was peaceful it could have just used its near god-like ability to manipulate the people around it to forget that it exists, and not raise attention. 2. Some dude (on reddit i think) mentioned that the structure of the forest mimics that of a multicellular human like organism. Examples are: the giant holes or rifts in which you can see tree roots everywhere, look like the inside of a body, the 'anti-bodies' (the monsters) killing the intruders (the watchers- government, trader, protag) and taking them over to become part of body (the doctor going insane), the 'helpful or neutral bacteria' (villagers, savages, the three), the entity in the center of the forest bieng like a heart feeding the body (when the entity dies, the forest dies, same with human heart). What im getting to is that if this thing can corrupt entire lands (underground, the air, the land) then it can corrupt the planet too, and you can see why that would suck. So in conclusion killing it my opinion would be the best option.

What's great is that, the whole thing was a fungi. A mutated one to be exact, named Specimen 21. And the military had tried to destory the thing with both fire and electricity. But never worked. After the protagonist had burned the heart of all the horror. The military then were sent to rescue any survivors of the Darkwood after some reports of the woods being burnt to the ground. The people within were then saved, because of the selfless and unknown act of a trenchcoated man. Or should I say, heartless and unknown act of relief.
@Hovel4204 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t say it was heartless. The sleepers are obviously dying given the fact that we see many of the bodies lying there are corpses, and those barely alive are just a shell of them former selves. The Stranger burning the whole entity to the ground, ending the sleepers misery and potentially saving the remaining inhabitants of the Darkwood is actually a pretty decent thing to do, even for him.

Interestingly enough, the devs claim that they are unfamiliar with HP Lovecraft, and that the similarities between this game and Lovecraft's works are largely coincidental. The inspiration for this game mostly comes from Slavic Mythology, and the works of Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, such as Roadside Picnic (or STALKER as the film and video game adaptation is called). Many of the gameplay elements are also inspired by Project Zomboid, Fallout, and Dark Souls.

I didn't know the game had an alternate ending until recently, so I loaded my save back up and went through the steps. Cool to experience that months after I finished it. This is one of my favorite games of all time, I followed it from its time on steam greenlight, to full release. The way the game uses its fantastic sound design and creepy visuals to immerse you and scare you without the use of cheap jumpscares is really awesome. This ending fits much more with the game than the normal ending. Also, the text during the ending had some differences for me, I guess it depends on what quests you do in the story and stuff like that. Question is though, is this the actual "true ending" or is this just one of 2 endings, based on your interpretation of the story?
@DragoonBB6 жыл бұрын
I assume this is the true ending. Which from how others have explained makes sense. Going to sleep just means you let the being eventually kill you.

So I got the normal ending where I just went home and slept. I didn't think that touching X things would do anything. I killed Piotrek by finishing his rocket. (oops, at least he died livin' the dream) Gave the Chicken Lady's sister to Wolf (I didn't want her to kill any villagers in case she mutated) Killed the Sow (that meat is probably horribly unhealthy) My ending was that the Chicken Lady got lost in the woods trying to find her sister, The Wolf lived with himself happily ever after, Piotrek crashed and died in his rocket, the elephants were too frightened to leave their shelter, some of the villagers went crazy due to hunger and sickness but some escaped through the road home, ??? Doctor he was busy being crazy, ??? mushroom granny, the three were pretty sad that I killed the tree, the snail man died, the musician listened to the forest noises to calm his panicking thoughts (went crazy?) Oh and the cripple was crawling down the escape road as I walked onwards. He stopped at the 50-mile marker though, I'm gonna say he was resting because he still had a health bar... Otherwise, he had a heart attack and that is SAD. Like come on man we were almost there. I know this is the "True" ending but I feel that it could go either way. The protagonist, having been in hell for God knows how long may very well have just collapsed at home and figured it out the next day. The "I made you some soup part" could be his wife and kid, or his wife's new hubby because her husband left her for weeks.

That's what all the sleeping people were, they went to sleep in their warm bed and were 'happy' It is unclear to me if the Tree and Entity are different though... however it shows you what you want to see... and you desire most of all to go home. The plague is some mutated fungi entity called specimen 21. Military has tried to destroy it with fire and electricity but it was too late. You, the protagonist was some government agent sent into the woods to destroy it. But forgeting most of what you were doing after the doctor injected you with the serum which started to drive you mad. At the end you find yourself going to sleep after escaping the woods, but its a false reality this "entity" has tricked you into thinking. Instead of sleeping in your fake apartment, you find out its not real. And you are on top of a tree, presumably in the midle of the forest where this fungi is. You burn them all. And the entire forest down killing most things. At the end there are rescue choppers getting those villagers that left that made it out of the forrest. You died, but not in vain by killing the entity that has been tormenting people, creating these creatures, and driving others mad.

I would love that. But i would prefer one with the trader. If he is one of the outsiders we would play as him and see the team of the ousiders( the man when you move to chapter 2, the flamethrower guy, the protagonistetc). And see how they gor seperated maybe?
@Krullest4 жыл бұрын
The treatment so like a prequel to the game or something? If so that would be very interesting but if its after the events of the first game it’s unlikely that it needs a second one.
@janickvliek65303 жыл бұрын
@@thetreatment498(spoilers) the trader is a mushroom clone of the protagonist. You will find this out when he dies he has the same key and journal as you but they are mushroomy. Plus his face looks abit like yours. And the game suggests that there are more mushroom clones. For example: there are 2 crosses with a shiny stone on it one is real the other is mushroomy.

i dont see how they could do that. The entity dies (along with yourself) and the problem has been resolved. Making a sequel would just be unnecessary and could potentially ruin the first game. Just like what the last of us became after the 2nd game came out.
