MAGIC Las Vegas Trade Show Convention EVERYTHING You NEED to KNOW | Advice for NEW Fashion Designers

You've heard of the mega fashion trade show MAGIC. You've wanted to go for year. Or you already booked your travel, and are on your way. But is it for everyone? The MAGIC Trade Show in Las Vegas is one of the largest apparel trade shows in the world. Around 70,000 people come every year. It's the perfect opportunity to get out there and create some relationships!
Hey, guys! It’s Jesse Dombrowiak here, co-founder of Indie Source. And I’d love to share some insights into the MAGIC Trade Show and some takeaways for new designers.
MAGIC Trade Show in Las Vegas started in 1993 and is one of the largest apparel trade shows in the world. Around 70,000 people come. It is terribly named. MAGIC stands for Men’s Apparel Guild in California, but there’s so much more than men’s apparel there.
The different parts of the show are:
WWD - Women’s Wear Daily, the largest section and full of women’s established contemporary
THE TENTS - Men’s luxury wear
MAGIC MENS
CHILDREN’S CLUB
FNPLATFORM - All about shoes and also has a platform sourcing company
CURVE - swimwear
STITCH - ready-to-wear
Sourcing section - has a lot of the vendors and fabric and trim from all across the world
POOLTRADESHOW - My favorite place and probably where you should start, for up-and-coming brands, has a cash & carry section, more on this later!
PROJECT - up-and-coming women’s contemporary brands
The trade show also has seminars which are packed full of great advice from industry top-leaders speaking. Download the trade show app which has tons of goodies in it. But I believe MAGIC’s not for everyone. I think it’s a super expensive trade show and that you will have to make sure that you’re going to overcome that initial investment to make sure that you’re going to get your return.
