Hi! This is my first time visiting indonesia in surabaya. I just wanna clarify that i do not need to register my imei of my phone in the indonesia authority website if im not staying more than 90 days right? And if i buy sim card in the airport, i could just put it in my phone and i can use it as per norm?
@AdiraTravels
@AdiraTravels 6 ай бұрын
Yes. However you would need to register your IMEI with the phone operator where you are buying your SIM card from. You can't buy it from the local shops and you just have to buy the premium cards from the hotel. If you want, we found this company who are selling prepaid SIM cards for International Tourists. So you can get them at half the airport price. SIM card would be activated and sent to your hotel room directly even before you come. If you are interested. You can contact us at +62897994494 through WhatsApp.

Hi. Once u registered the IMEI with the Indonesian Government. It would be registered for the lifetime of the phone. But if you don't register then it can only work for that 60-90 days before getting blocked.

Hi, If I visit Jakarta for 10days with my in Europe bought phone, then I don't need to register phone in customs? I just simply go to any sim card selling office in airport or in the city and pay my desired sim card, show my passport and fill some papers and can use internet?
@AdiraTravels

Yes. Exactly. Check out our other video regarding where to buy the SIM Card. There's no need to register in customs. Just buy the SIM Card in the airport. Provide your passport and you should be great for 10 days. It should be costing around IDR 250,000 for the SIM card and data package

Hello ! Does e sim like holafly work in Indonesia?
@AdiraTravels

Not quite sure. Haven't heard of holafly. Does it have international roaming? If it have. Then shouldn't be an issue. But even if it doesn't work, you can get an esim in those counters as well.

Actually the main issue here is not about the sim card but more regarding the device that catches signal. Anything that have an IMEI number. Mobile phones. Tablets or even electronic devices that have an IMEI

@@AdiraTravelsExactly, for information, I had a problem with my main phone it didn't charge anymore, I tried to put the Telkomsel sim card in my backup phone, but I didn't register my backup phone only my main phone, so the sim card didn't work on my rescue phone, I had to go repair it in the city, I was in Ambon, Maluku. So for those who stay in Indonesia, make sure you have a reliable phone or someone who can take you to a phone repair shop or Telkomsel office !

I am here for around 60 days ( less than 90 days condition) - hence skipped registering at the beacukai website. However, bought a SIM from outside and it’s not working. Airport SIM sellers do the process of activation automatically based on your visa validity period but not the shops outside. Any suggestion how to get this activated?

Hi Brother. Really sorry to hear that, is this the first time the phone is entering the country? Or the phone has entered the country earlier. And did you buy the Tourist Sim in the airport / you bought it from the local shops. If you had bought the SIM Card from the shop outside the airport, they would be taking your passport details and activating it for you actually. I'll do my best to help you and guide you. Just reply to this comment we will try to troubleshoot and find a solution together.

@@AdiraTravels Hi, Thanks for the reply. The phone is entering the country for the second time (though this the first time to insert a local SIM as during the previous time, it was for a short transit and I used only the airport wifi and travelled out of the country). I didn't register as my stay is for less than 60 days -bought a Telkomsel SIM at a shop in Bandung( no passport details taken for activation but the shop guy did alert me and said that I am on short stay and not required) and after inserting the SIM, no signals found. Now, registered the IMEI on beacukai website, got a code but don't know what to do with that 😕

My wife is Indonesian with Indo passport. Canadian Permanent Resident Card. I read that people with Indo passport cannot get SIM cards for their North American phone. Even though she lives in Canada. If this is true, can I get cards for two devices under my name? I have a Canadian passport.

Hi dr Millsy. I'll try to help you out to the best of my knowledge from going through this process a number of times. Trying to find an official statement regarding this is a hassle even though I'm in the airport myself.
@AdiraTravels
@AdiraTravels 10 ай бұрын
Your wife can buy and have 3 local SIM cards from any phone operator. There are a number of operators. So there's no issue regarding the number of SIM card that your wife can own. The issue is that she would need to have her KTP and a Kartu Keluarga (KK) to buy the numbers. As long as she have this. She can buy the SIM cards easily at any local shop at around Rp. 5,000 for the card and around Rp. 100,000 for a month's usage of Internet with around 25-35GB. So no issues there. It's pretty cheap and affordable.
@AdiraTravels
@AdiraTravels 10 ай бұрын
Buying a SIM Card using your passport would cost around Rp. 400,000 for the same facilities. Around 4x more expensive. But even if you use your passport. You can buy the SIM Cards but only at the airport. Since the local shops around Indonesia are not used to registering with Passport and would face difficulties. So it's best if you plan to buy a SIM card and your wife do not have her KTP or KK details easily available, then it's better to buy them at the airport.
@AdiraTravels
@AdiraTravels 10 ай бұрын
The issue however does not lie in the SIM card but actually lies in the telecommunication device, be it the Phone or the Tablet. You need to register any device that has an IMEI number in the airport during the time you pass through customs in order for it to get a signal if you wish to stay in Indonesia longer than 90 days. This has to be done during the time you land.
@AdiraTravels
@AdiraTravels 10 ай бұрын
Because during the time you land. You get a 500$ discount on the value of your device. You would need to pay around a 30% tax on the value of your device in order for it to work in Indonesia for more than 90 days. If you are staying for less than 90 days you wouldn't need to pay the tax and wouldn't need to register in the customs. Just buy the SIM cards and you are good to go. I would however recommend getting the SIM cards using your passport for American devices instead of using your wife's KTP and KK.

I tried to register my phone at the airport through the website they provided me. But one officer told me to just skip device data but I am staying here for three year. Later,one immigration scanned the code on my phone. Yesterday,I went to a SimCard selling shop but the staff said my phone was not responding to their sims. What do I do now?

Hi Leonard. I'm really sorry to hear that. It's a problem for sure. Having gone through this process a number of times personally. I totally understand the frustration and pain you must be going through. According to my knowledge and experience, there is only one solution for this, but you might not like it.
@AdiraTravels
@AdiraTravels 10 ай бұрын
You need to go to a customs office anywhere in your city and register your phone with them. The problem is that now, the 500$ discount is not calculated. so you would have to pay around 30% of the full amount of your phone value. That's the only way to register your phone for a long period or what they call it permanent unblock.
@AdiraTravels
@AdiraTravels 10 ай бұрын
Oh wait, there's another way for a temporary unblock. It could work for around 3-6 months. the method is to go to Grapari and register it in Grapari. You can search online in google for the closest grapari to your city. They would charge you around 200 - 250 thousand rupiah to temporary unblock your phone. they can unblock your phone for 3 months. while you are there, also ask them when can you come to them again to unblock it for another 3 months. (i spoke to a Grapari employee who told me that they can unblock it twice maximum for a device, im not sure if you have to change your number or not - i personally haven't tried this method)
@AdiraTravels
@AdiraTravels 10 ай бұрын
At the end of the day, you need to register your phone with the customs to permanently unblock your imei, and it would cost you quite a bit. The price of the phone depends on how much you declare it, you can declare your phone to be cheaper, but just make sure it makes sense. If you have the latest iphone, it doesn't make sense if you declare its value at only 200$.

@@AdiraTravels does that mean the immigration did not understand that I am staying for longer than 90-day? They just told me to skip and I guess I must have filled in it. Can I still use mobile data SIM card without IMEI registration for 90-days?

i giftet my indonesian girlfriend my old iphone, how would they calculate the value of the phone?
@AdiraTravels
@AdiraTravels Ай бұрын
Hi Brother. If it is an old iphone, I'm assuming it would be less than 500$. The Customs department shall use an estimate market value for the phone, if it is slightly more or less, they won't have any issues. But if you are saying that the old iphone is just last years latest pro max (iphone 14 pro max) that is definitely above 500$ even for the used model.
@AdiraTravels
@AdiraTravels Ай бұрын
But generally speaking, it is most advisable that she goes through the customs and declare that new phone and get it registered, otherwise her phone will not work after 3 months of landing in Indonesia.

Yeah then she might have to pay a little tax since it would be just slightly above the 500$ range. But you can provide her a little proof that the used one goes for less than 500$, she would be good to go without having to pay anything extra

@AdiraTravels
@AdiraTravels 8 ай бұрын
Hi Luna, Hope everything is going great with you and your family. We are really sorry to know that your father is having issues with his phone. He is not alone, thousands of foreigners as well as Indonesians face the same issue every single day. There are a number of ways to fix this. The first step is to register his phone in the IMEI counter in the airport after He passes through customs. Depending on his port of arrival / either Jakarta or Bali. There is one counter just after he passes through customs.
@AdiraTravels
@AdiraTravels 8 ай бұрын
He would have to fill out the Electronic Customs Declaration form before hand, while taking his luggage. The signboards would be placed while waiting for the conveyer belt. Once he fills up the form using his phone wifi / the computers they provide in the airport, he would be getting a barcode to pass through customs. Just like how we mentioned in the video, If his phone is below 500$ then it would be free of charge and would take less than 5 minutes for the registration. He would be needing to provide his passport, (either a Foreign passport / Indonesian passport it doesnt matter) and his boarding pass. If his phone is above 500$ he would need to pay 30-40% tax (above the 500$). After this the phone would be registered in Indonesia and he would be able to use the Indonesian Sim Cards.
@AdiraTravels
@AdiraTravels 8 ай бұрын
Another method is to use a local Indonesian Sim Cards which would be registered under his name. If you buy a local sim card under a local's name. It won't work. You would need to buy a Sim Card using his passport. This type of Tourist Sim Cards are not sold in the normal shops. We are launching a website where we would be able to sell you this sim cards with direct free bali delivery in the next few days. If you need them urgently, you could email us your details to adiratravels99@gmail.com and we shall get in touch with you. The service that we provide is half the price of what the airport is selling it to you for. So it is way more worthed and he would be able to use his phone without any issues as long as he stays in Indonesia for less than 90 days. If he plans to stay for more than 90 days, he would have to register his phone IMEI in the airport during customs as there is no other way.
Increíble final 😱
