Minangkabau (Minangkabau: Baso Minangkabau, Pegon script: بَاسُوْ مِيْنڠكَابَاوْ; Indonesian: Bahasa Minangkabau; Malay: Bahasa Minangkabau or Bahasa Minang, Jawi: بَهَاسَ مِينَاڠكَابَاوْ) is an Austronesian language spoken by the Minangkabau of West Sumatra, the western part of Riau, South Aceh Regency, the northern part of Bengkulu and Jambi, also in several cities throughout Indonesia by migrated Minangkabau. The language is also a lingua franca along the western coastal region of the province of North Sumatra, and is even used in parts of Aceh, where the language is called Aneuk Jamee.
If you are interested to see your native language/dialect be featured here.

Actually Minangkabau has many dialects. This one is what people called Logat Pasisia(Coastal dialect) and its the most famous one......unfortunately.

@@gudseygood3622 It made many people think that Minangkabau people is a homogeneous society. Its not true at all. They all have different backgrounds that gave birth to many dialects and cultures. In fact, their Perpatih Custom that forbid them to marry their own clan members helped prevent them from becoming a homogeneous society.

@@gudseygood3622 I don't remember the name but there's this one dialect that even most of Minangkabau people dont really understand it. That one is farthest away from Melayu language. Not sure about their history as well.

@@gudseygood3622Minangkabau has 3 main dialects, namely the Tanah Data, Agam and Payokumbuah dialects, and the one in this is not the Pasisia dialect, it is more towards the old style Agam dialect

0:31 the translation of the first verse of Lord's Prayer in Minangkabau doesn't sound match like the Indonesian one. I think someone who makes this is Muslim. I love it. ❤ Edited: btw I'm not a Minangnese, but I can understand Minangkabau 80-90%.

Yeah, since the beginning of this channel, they always use christian verse for the sample text I'm sorry but i think that's kinda not appropriate since not all people are christian Maybe they can input another neutral option of the sampel text :')

But the thing is, they should use Quran texts in Muslim majority countries, and christian text in the other languages from christian majority countries.

The Indonesian language, the sentence structure is very different from the Minang language. I think I understand why. Sentences in English and Indonesian are Christian prayer sentences. Meanwhile, all Minangkabau people are Muslim, so this Minang-language sentence is more in the pattern of Muslim prayer Because I'm very fluent in Minangkabau language, so I can really feel the difference in the pattern of words and sentences in this video😅
