I don't know how you managed to put so much info in a sub-10 minute video. I checked to see how much time was left and I was at 3.5 minutes, but it felt like I had learned at least 10 minutes worth of information. Y'all are magic. Thanks for another helpful video!

Best advice if your photographer film maker if you want to fly indoors. Find a really good sports drone pilot and learn from them. I spend a summer flying with a sports drone pilot and I learnt a lot also learn how to fly in first person without a spotter. Also you can test your route around the house by physically walking the route with the drone and have it on so you can see the angles.

As a pilot, I think the best tip you gave was not actually mentioned, but shown: practice in your own home first, as you did. Coupling that with your "be the best pilot you can be" is excellent advice: fly in your own home first, and if you're damaging stuff, walk away from the drone. Flying is a practiced skill, and it's also a perishable one: yesterday I went flying with a friend who hadn't flown in over 5 months, and he almost killed us on landing. You NEED to practice flying it tight spaces constantly, or it'll become a case of it being not IF you crash into something and damage it, but WHEN. ..Joe

Optical avoidance very important on Mavic Air. Turn off Ground detection for landing. Use in GOOD lighted areas. Use DJI cage, trim and use quiet props, they are wider, motors run slower.

Very important tip for flying indoors. Dji Mavic pro does't have ATTI mode. The only way get in ATTI mode whit it is , GPS signal to be very poor or not existent. So for safety purposes Mavic Pro have option what to do when lose connection to the remote you must set this option to hover, or if else is set to RTH and for some reason the drone GPS got connection will set a home point, and if for some reason lose connection with the remote you drone will try to go "home" and its possible to hit the sealing. This tip is also useful if you going to fly under some kind of object like bridge for example.

I would use a handheld gimball to produce most of my smooth shots and then use a drone for those which can't be shot handheld. I am sure that this way saves much time and sanity.

Thanks for the video. Recently I've been experimenting with indoor flying using my Mavic Air, and transitioning from indoor to outdoor. What I learned is that leaving the downward sensors and positioning, and turning off the front and rear sensors yields a drone that is completely stable and controllable indoors. It actually blew me away how stable it was just based on that one set of sensors being left on. I then did a transition from indoor to outdoor and what I found was when going into an open environment from a closed one, you will need to stop, and turn the front and rear sensors on again while the drone acquires a GPS signal. I did find the first flight from indoors to outdoors resulted in a max flight altitude reached at 10ft as it acquired a signal, but after it acquired GPS it had no issue. When going back inside I would just stop right before entering, switch off the front/rear sensors and land indoors. I also used this under a tree canopy with zero issue. Honestly, this is a game changer, and with the prop guards on I have very little worry about damaging the drone.

Hey Tony & Chelsea, I know you've probably heard this before about 'Where can I fly my drone?' for me, I'm referring to West Los Angeles areas. I called City Park Ranger to see if there was a 'no drone ordinance' and yes they have one and it sucks because parks are supposed to be public places to have fun, especially big parks with wide open spaces. Here's the ordinance LAMC 63.44B8 that says; No person shall land, release, take off or fly any balloon, except children toy balloons not inflated with any flammable material, helicopter, parakite, hang glider, aircraft or powered models thereof, except in areas specifically set aside therefor. Gliders would fall under aircraft. < ~~ It's pretty lame. It's like saying, you can buy a car but you can't drive it anywhere on the roads. The scrutiny of drones is a suffocating insanity when it comes to having some recreational fun. We have no issues with following safety guidelines about airspace with the FAA. The lens on how drones are perceived really needs a massive overhaul, imo. Are there any options or do we just sit our drones on our desks?

TONY/CHELSEA: Wow, great video! Question: I have and love all your books- they are the best available on their subjects... period. Related to shooting real estate videos and fine homes/architecture, what are the best process/tips/strategies/solutions videos, courses and/or books for a technically advanced shooter, looking to learn from advanced creative professional types? I went through Mike Kelley’s fstoppers RE/Architecture videos (very good, albeit, I had found ways to do various things more efficiently and mitigate problems he deals with in post- but he covers a lot of ground). Which books, videos or other courses / authors do you recommend? I have tilt shifts, custom PS actions/Adobe suite skills, C1P, extensive lighting, drones and related options I use in-house. I live in AZ and do landscape, portraits, real estate/architecture, ls/astro, and care most about quality/look, as I find that I can learn to increase efficiency later, after developing a solid creative skills base. So, I gravitate to people like you and Chelsea, Karl Taylor, Lisa Holloway and many others. I try to spend at least 45 minutes each day of creative “me-time”, on top of commercial shooting requirements.

@subwarpspeed6 жыл бұрын
Mavic Pro user here. If it works the same you can't force it, there was some have with dji assistant for doing it but you actually don't want it! Keep it bright and have visual positioning as Tony mentions - it will be in OPTI mode. Think of how an optical mouse works - it take "pictures" of the surface and compares to previous to tell the computer how the pointer should move. But with drones OPTI it aims at not moving when looking at photos it takes underneath. Very stable in my testing. Set the drone to hover if it loses RC contact instead of RTH. If it would have gotten some GPS positioning to set a homepoint and then it loses the RC it might do a RTH flight, which is done at a minimum of 20 meters... I.e straight up into the ceiling. And use tripod mode, I don't think you need any faster. If nothing changes in the environment (i.e. se a big clock with seconds arrow) you can speed it up in post
