For rodeo style, 7 ft... You can also fly on 10-15 for lines, but they are too long for this technique (due to body height / reach).

How do you keep your lines from twisting? If held to tight, I can't steer the kite, but too loose my lines twist due to the motion.

We don't keep it from twisting, just try to keep it to a maximum of 2-3 at any given time (fly one way and then the other), you can also play with the amount of line tension you're applying lessen the line binding and allow a little more control during turns.
