What you said in the last 10 seconds is very crucial , I figured out after a long time . Mentality should be to go for the ball and not wait for it , because it’s gonna come down faster and you’ll miss it and hit the net . If you go for the ball then you hit it at high point . I just play with this thought all time .

Thanks guys for this. I love the extra effort of bringing in another perspective, another shot at explaining the importance of getting your feet to the ball. I still hear Taylor putting his face right into to camera saying 'no. 3 get your feet to the ball!' I am afraid, there are many other videos in the making before this returns, I felt I needed to ask you this about getting your feet to the ball: What you show and say including that nice drill is mostly about adjusting to sets that are off but only to far in or out (i.e. to far left or right). To me what happens more often is setters trying to compensate being late, rushing past the ball and then by overcorrecting pushing the ball away from the net. Or simply being afraid and not pushing far enough. I think this is far more difficult for the hitter because it lengthens or shortens the approach. Can you say something about sets that are off this way and how to practice that @The McKibbinBrothers ? Maybe here in the comments ? I really think this is something we see at tourist, amateur and pro levels alike albeit for different reasons. Like serves to shorten the approach. How do you react to that as a hitter ?
@barney38344 жыл бұрын
@@themckibbinbrothers thanks man. This is exactly what I meant. Your answer makes a lot of sense to me now. Will think about some drills to practice what you just talked about. Watch the game, figure out a tendency, adjust: Rather give up a bit on an optimal approach, but be ready otherwise when the setter has tendency like that. Definitely makes more sense than blaming the setter, especially for amateurs who change partners a lot.

I think the biggest difference between indoor and beach is the philosophy of the roles. Indoor I set to feed my attacker and need to find them which means I need to watch their movements and their approach to give them the ball they want to attach. With beach even though the passer is also the attacker, the setter needs to only give a good height to the ball and not too close to the net to avoid an early block. There is so much talk about getting your feet to the ball but I think you can be a lot more effective in attack if the setter feeds more dynamic balls to match their partner's positioning on the court. You rarely see behind the back sets in beach which is also weird.
