You should have taken the Indore-Khandwa-Amravati interstate and then onto 4 lane NH6 to Nagpur. Better road apart from traversing the picturesque Melghat wilderness as it cuts across the Melghat Tiger Reserve. It'd have taken an hour or so more but since you were riding, what the heck.
