Hah! Thank you for the kind words and your support! I am happy to hear that the video helped!

Thanks a lot!!! I now understand why both resonance and inductive effect play a great role in molecule stability!!!

U r really great.i am a school student .even my chemistry teacher doesn't teaches like u. HATS OFF...

Bobby, No, it does not disappear. I just did not go on to show the next step because that was not the point. I was trying to show the inductive effect instead of focusing on the full mechanism of the reaction.

Just when I had lost hope in understanding the inductive effect I found this video! My orgo book describes this concept in the most terrible paragraph ever written by a human being. Thank you, thank you and thank you again! Great video!

Just a starting in the topic of Organic Chemistry. Finally something which i can understand fully! Really, the notes that my teacher provided does not help at all. With just an 8 minute video, it cleared all my doubts. Thank you very much! :D

Wow. Thanks! I've seen your videos before, but this is a concept I would imagine to be difficult to explain. But some how you did it beautifully and clearly.

Sir but won't intermediate A be more stable than intermediate B as in A the electron density on Ch2 group is increased by Br thereby increasing the electron cloud over the carbocation thus stabilising it due to inductive effect?
@fay4072 жыл бұрын
You are amazing!

is inductive effect applicable only to saturated chain of atoms

Hey ^^ I have a question : if we have 2 groups NO2 and SO3H how can we compare their inductif effect?!! like if they are linked how can we know which one has a +I and which one has a -I ?
@sahibnoor_9 жыл бұрын
Miia Saadi See if the atom of the functional group attached to the carbon atom is more electronegative as compared to carbon, the carbon will gain a delta positive charge, while the attached atom will gain a delta negative charge. This group is known as -I group or electron withdrawing group. (-I effect). If the atom attached is less electronegative as compared to the carbon atom, the carbon atom will withdraw the charge from the attached atom and gain a delta negative charge, while the attached atom will gain a delta positive charge. This group is known as +I group or electron donating group. (+I effect). Here, both "N" and "S" are more electronegative as compared to carbon atom. Hence, both of them are -I groups, showing -I effect. I hope it helps you.
