Hey! Great tutorial series here. I'm trying to brush up my digital ID sketching in PS/AI (see what I did there?) and I can't remember how to manually brush along a path. I don't mean add a stroke to a path but rather create a shape, like an ellipse, and use either my mouse or my graphics tablet to create lines that are anchored to that path kinda like you did at 4:50. I can't seem to find that function and would really appreciate the help! Oh and I'm using the Adobe suite, not sketchbook
@robertlkiss4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. As far as I know, photoshop does not have that capability, best you can do is use the pen to and then stroke it with brush fade away option. That is why I use sketchbook in this case because it's just much more convenient if you wanna do stuff like this.
@DerNetteFette3 жыл бұрын
which damn brush is that? searched around forever through all the options, but nothing looks as good as this one...

This is high quality youtube content. May I ask why you use digital sketching for your "napkin" sketches? Wouldn't you get your ideas out faster with paper and pen/pencil which is a more natural medium? Or did you choose it for better presentation on a youtube video?
@robertlkiss4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. It is a good question but I don't have a precise answer. Sometimes it really just comes down to how I feel. On some days I like the digital marks I set down satisfy me more on other days I want to hear the scratching of the pen on paper. On the other hand there is really no difference in speed between digital and traditional if you have the self control not to undo.

Do you use any steady stroke settings or predictive stroke at all? I've just begun using a wacom intuos and looking at the screen while sketching is still new to me, any suggestions would be really helpful !
@robertlkiss4 жыл бұрын
I do but only rarely if I need to get a line super clear, but I would say 90% of the time I just do things by hand without any help.

@@robertlkiss Hey ! I've been following your tutorials on fundamental of sketching, I must say I enjoy it !. I am a beginner & I've been using a paper and pen so far and was thinking of going digital. I've a basic wacom tablet (without display) so it'll be looking at a screen while my hand moves on the tablet . I understand that you use a Wacom tab with display. What do you think should i go with my digital setup and do whatever I did on paper digitally from now? Will it help me sharpen my skills both digitally and on paper? @manvifotedar4339 How's your experience so far?
@robertlkiss10 ай бұрын
@@royceleejohn4814 what you have is good especially as a beginner it is good to 1st have a normal drawing tablet(and not a display tablet). it is going to feel weird for a couple of weeks, almost like you made a mistake and this will never work :) But once you are over the 1st two-three weeks of getting used to it it will feel very natural and actually quite nice that you can draw and your hand is not in the way of the picture that you are drawing.
@royceleejohn48148 ай бұрын
@@robertlkiss Btw, since I'm a beginner, will jumping to sketching digitally from pen & paper method help sharpen my skills on pen & paper as well ? Does it work that way? (Especially because in sketchbook I could use a ruler for drawing lines, ellipse tool instead of drawing it by free hand)
@robertlkiss8 ай бұрын
@@royceleejohn4814 no it won’t, it might make them actually worse, there’s a lot of cheating that is working only digitally it is easy to get used to them and then missing those trick traditionally

Hello, László! It is possible to use two tablet with Sketchbook? I want to use this program together somebody in same time?! Which software you use for screen recording? What you think about xp-pens for budget solution? About Autodesk ID: is this a simple registration at Autodesk?! (Because this program free for 7 days only after that required Autodesk ID and I do not know what does it mean exactly...) Thanks for your answers!
@robertlkiss5 жыл бұрын
Hey Csaba. Sadly I don't kno0w of a way to collaborate with two people on sketchbook. Maybe try out something like 'Drawpile' For screen recording, I use OBS studio on my windows pc or Quicktime for my Mac. I am not familiar with the xp=pen but I see that the reviews are relatively good. Honestly, I started with a tablet, not a drawing screen. So I would say if you are starting with digital art/drawing you really don't have to go for an expensive Wacom. Se what you like and works best for you. About the Autodesk ID, I am sorry but I can't help you there. I bought a subscription to Sketchbookpro back in the day when it cost money. Ever since they went free sometimes I need to log in other times I don't, I really don't understand what they are doing. That is the only negative thing about Autodesk and Sketchbookpro. But I really hope other than that you enjoy the application!

hello sir Robert, I am Christian, and I am curious about Industrial Design, I've already watch quite a few videos about Industrial Design, and I do really want to learn more about it especially to a person who is really in that Industry, like you, the reason why I am asking this is that I am looking for a job, and I think that I love designing, drawing, sketching etc, that is why I think that Industrial Design is a great job. My questions are: 1. How and where do I start in order to learn Industrial Design (ID)? 2. What are the qualifications? There are more questions that I want to ask, but for now, two questions are enough, I hope for your reply, greetings from the Philippines, God bless!
@robertlkiss2 жыл бұрын
Hello, sadly I am not working in the industrial design field at all so I don't know how much help I will be. I studied it and it was fun but I earn my money with something like else. As for your two questions, industrial design usually is being taught at the University level as bachelors or masters degree. I studied Industrial and economical engineering for my BSc and then switched to industrial design engineering for my masters.
