the remote selector in the space was probably wired as such because they weren't using it. The Maxitrol has a setpoint dial at the unit so no one messes with it down below.

Worked on a DFMUA where the flame was massive and orange. Flames were reaching the blower, motor and belt. Whole blower compartment walls were charred. Unit’s saving grace was the high limit. Gas pressures were good and maxitrol repeater, modulating valve and sensor checked out ok. Was as if something in the space like a fire damper closed shut on the supply air.
@HVACRSurvival Жыл бұрын
You would think since it has a dual pressure switch that it wouldn't be able to run with any type of restriction because it would be either above or below the static pressure zone that they want and should have caused it to shut down. Weirder things that happened👍👍

Nice man. I enjoyed this one. That 0-40 dial is for override when you have a 115 with it not for calibration. Sounds like tech support let you down on that.

I suspected discharge air temp sensor ,Common problem with those Maxitrols. That is one of the cleanest units I have ever seen.Where I live in Indiana those burners are a common thing to rust the holes shut.Always have to drill them open.Very time consuming.I use extra long drill bits.
@HVACRSurvival5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting! yeah I'm not looking forward to drilling them out. This unit was less than a year old.
@55bigblockcid305 жыл бұрын
@@HVACRSurvival Fastenal has the longer drill bits ...you have to order them usually.They are a lot easier than trying to use a short drill bit.I think I needed 2 different sizes for the orifices .Also there are holes in the back for air that most people dont realize.They are hard to get to but they make a difference on how the flame burns.I`ve worked on 2 or 3.lol
@markwimbush5813 жыл бұрын
I am thinking that you also have a gas supply problem. It should be possible for the unit to go to high fire right away without gas pressure dropping like that.

I left it at 60*, they can change it. It's a factory so that probably don't want a lot of heat blowing on them. That's the benefit of having the remote control panel.

Awesome. Was that a ball bearing or shelve bearing blower. The belts being loose would affect the air flame quality. When testing the static pressure was that positive or negative in the system. Great work on editing very smooth 👍🏻💯
@HVACRSurvival5 жыл бұрын
The blower was pillar block bearings I believe. They have a maximum RPM range that you can set it at, if you notice there's reflective tape on the big Pulley, the gas valve is a negative pressure gas valve, the pressure switches are shooting for a minimum and maximum static pressure across the burner plate. I forget what the numbers were. Thanks, I'm trying to keep my locations and company name hidden. That's what got me in trouble last time.

how do you adjust air flow if the pressure drop across the burner is out of spec?
@HVACRSurvival5 жыл бұрын
You adjust the burner plate gap. We had a lot of problems when we first started this one and a factory rep had to come out and spend nearly two days on it.

@HVACRSurvival5 жыл бұрын
Yes sir👍👍 That's why the gas pressure was dropping as fast as it was, it was flying wide open with no modulation. All of this was properly sized and installed Recently so I know it wasn't an under size gas line, but possibly the regulator coming into the building might have been taking a dump but neither seem to been the case.
