has anyone an explanation, why monotone sounds make us sleepy ? is it because listening cancels out negative thoughts ?

Many people find white noise helpful for a variety of reasons, primarily because it can mask other sounds and create a consistent, soothing background noise. It also cancels surrounding sounds. By blocking out external distractions, we allow our brain to rest and think or worry less. It has, also, been scientifically proven that various ambient sounds (like the murmur of human speech or a noise that is associated with prenatal sound memories, for instance) can influence two specific emotions such as social presence and perceived safety, which are some of the primary prerequisites for human survival, bearing in mind that people are primarily beings who live in a community.

@@mrmurdog100 Judging by the comments on our videos, but far more (based on what can be found in the professional literature on the subject), it should help. At least in certain cases. Certainly, first-hand confirmation would be most valuable.

@@YourPeacefulSound Acording to a agoraphobic person i helped with grocery shopping and bus lines it did in deed helped. Maybe white noise can be used for more than insomnia.
