Ill never forget the day our band director gave us this music. I will also never forget the day I played this in front of my school for halftime at a football game. My poor director had no idea what he had done until after football season lol.

I arrange for marching band and percussion and I can understand why the battery is so “simple” to a lot of people. On one hand, yes it’s really easy and can be a lot more exciting to people, but on the other hand, this specific arrangement is clearly going for an exact replica of what’s going on in the actual song it’s based off of. I do this a lot myself when arranging for marching band stand tunes, however I give the multiple options of “advanced percussion” battery and “song replica” battery. Most people shoot for the fun stuff but there are directors out there who have purchased the easier stuff because it sounds more tame for something like a stand tune. All that summed up, this version is just the percussion in the song converted to drumline and I can appreciate what they did with it.
@lucscott36312 жыл бұрын
I like this comment a lot. It kinda explains how I feel about stuff. Good on you for writing both options. Keep doing what you do!

Let me rephrase what I mean by “its origins:” I was referring to the official music video. Some parents were calling out the school band for playing something “inappropriate,” and the band director didn’t want to deal with any problems in his first year here and stopped playing it during games.

This publisher puts out really good winds and brass scores.... but the percussion? So watered down and uninteresting, I don't understand why it's so beginner. Especially for a Grade 3-4, it could definitely be a lot more interesting.
@AOSMAKAKMS2 жыл бұрын
First off a beginner can’t do this, second the rhythms aren’t hard.
@adamcollester26552 жыл бұрын
@@AOSMAKAKMS You prove my point. This is a grade 3-4 piece, it's not for beginners. But the percussion parts are written for beginners, BECAUSE the rhythms aren't hard. The percussion parts need to match the wind parts in difficult, adding more rudiments and technical sections to challenge the players.
