Beardyman was doing loops before they made comps for it. He also uses a lot more equipment than just a looper thats why he doesnt compete. Hes just too big. If you check out his underbelly club videos he does. Some mad improv genre melding.

I don't think he invented it, as there were other loopers around his time, but he is definitely one of the pioneers of the modern looping scene, was looping before it was really even a thing, and he carved out his own niche within the super early looping scene.

Beardyman was a judge at this event, and did a non-comp show. (You can understand why he's a judge). 2x UK beatbox champ, 3rd year, he comes in with looping on chaos pads, and has never stopped. That rig is a custom built Appleton production station that's been in years in the making, including wiping and starting from scratch. As said before, the godfather of live beatbox loopping. Oh, he has some talent

BEARDYMAN was a judge on GBB 19 Loopstation, you can see him in other videos sitting in the Judge table, also AFAIK all his stuff is freestyle, there's no stablished routine. Much love man keep it up!

Beardyman has always been my absolute favourite since I first discovered him 2007ish - he just has an innate understanding of musicality that can often be missing from the overly technical beatboxers. There are definitely better beatboxers, but none can make music from their sounds the way Darren can. Seen him live twice now, once when this 'loop station' setup was brand new, it kept crashing and hanging lol, and once recently which was basically a full on D&B/Jungle rave!

beardyman got to the level where the equipment in existence couldn't keep up with him and do what he needed so he literally learnt to code and worked with some people to create a software to use. He calls it the beardytron. i first saw beardyman in 2010 and he's continually blown me away. his understanding of music is crazy. he can create anything on the spot to sound just like it. in his early sets he'd incorporate humour too, and he's a funny guy. so talented

You should check out his youtube channel. His current setup is so wicked. He can create or recreate any music using just his voice and his custom developed equipment in seconds.
