The most crazy part of the song is that each verse he progresses his rapping along with the story. His first first was just a little storytelling, and then the last he killed it with doubles, and his confidence was high because of his rhymes. Just crazy writing and a masterpiece in my opinion

I started watching reaction videos and it opened my eyes up to the different aspects of rap and most of all the bars . I never really listened or understood. One of my favourite songs of his this. The attention to detail with the distortion on the first two verses when he’s talking about his past and coming up but with the third verse the distortion is gone and it’s just his voice now that he’s in the present. Love it, we have all three faces on this track too, Marshall first verse, Eminem second verse and Slim Shady on the third verse.

My daughter was bullied badly one year in elementary school, fifth grade I think. She's a year younger than her peers in class, autistic and also traumatized by homelessness after we lost our home in OKC during 2013's tornado season. There were thousands of newly homeless and we wound up pulling our luggage on foot through the city in 100°+ temps. She was four, and asked me every day where her bed was. Fast forward a few years and we're in Indiana, clawing to gain traction on the edge of the lower middle class. She's still somehow maintained her free spirit; we framed each leg of the journey as part of an adventure, a quest to follow the signs to where we're supposed to be. She was a natural dancer and performer, fashioning whole outfits out of fabric pieces and modeling them like she'd done a million fashion shoots already. Not after those kids got ahold of her. She was bullied by this boy and a cadre of his little friends, tearing down her confidence until she wouldn't dance, or sing, or strut, or hardly talk. We reported incidents to the school and nothing was done, just impotent warnings that did little good. We were watching her light die, and so we got the fck out of Dodge (in our case, a shthole trailer park on the west side of Indy) and left. We actively work to help restore her confidence, supporting her talents and interests in of art design, voice acting and wildlife preservation. She's 13 now with a 5 year old little brother, also autistic and high ability. This little girl has been through some hell, yet despite it all she's a straight A student scholar with multiple awards, very well spoken of by her teachers, and now finally becoming more confident in her presentation to the world. I am INSANELY PROUD of my children! The thing is that as fried as my emotional wiring is, nothing makes me cry more consistently than those early memories for her are the result of choices we made as parents. Their dad and I came from the same kind of chaotic, white trash Midwestern world as Em, and we've tried our best not to repeat generation mistakes, but...man, it's impossible to not fck up your kids no matter how good your intentions are. A lot of days, I've want nothing more than to hit the reset button on the game of life, but I made a promise to them when I chose to give her life, and I don't get to give up the game without getting my kids trained up in demo mode. I owe that to them for putting them here, incarnate on this planet. And I see in them the unique powers that their differences have given them. We're going to make it, because there's no other option. It's literally what we are born to do. I love and respect Eminem so much because he truly, honestly GETS IT.

I so love this song! And I'm pretty much with you about the "yeah/heir"-thing. It fits with the song and the legacy-theme, so why not "heir"? Who cares what the lyrics say! You were looking for the word "homophone", I think. Two words with different meanings that sound the same. Like hare/hair. Right? This song... I always think of it as the woman (Polonia) taking the role of rap-music, or maybe music in general, singing to the awkward kid Marshall. "Look, kid. This is what I will give to you, this is my legacy (and you're my heir) and with my words, you'll be able to survive the "wars inside your world" and have faith in my words. But it's not up to me, I can only give you comfort - whatever you do with it is up to you" And so that kid did and does and gains confidence and we all know how it goes. I mean... am I the only one thinking that? I might be completely bonkers but who cares - it's my meaning for this song and it's such a great song and I realized I'm ranting at you and sorry! Wishing you luck against the youtube-dragons!
