I've been looking for this for over 5 years when I saw it on ESPN2. I emailed them several times about a re broadcast. Nothing. I'm so happy you posted this. 😅 See you on the BW chat, thanks😊😊

I wanted to share my favorite Colt memory. During the 1977 playoff against the Raiders, Oakland had just scored and my friend went to the restroom but at 16 looked old enough to get beer. Next to us was a pretty well to do black couple and the man also went for refreshments. His wife was very dignified and didn't say much. Well we all remember the kickoff return for a touchdown in that game. We had great seats where the left field foul pole usually was, second row, on the 20 yard line. As the play developed she grabbed me and started jumping up and down and I started doing the same. The place went nuts. When her husband got back, she went back to her quiet self all the way to the second overtime. From time to time we would glance at each other and smile 😊 I was born in 61 and so many times I never saw the crowd as black and white but Colts fans. Unfortunately, they lost the game and there would never be another Colt playoff game there. 😢

I wondered what this was after reading the title. And it was a clip/show by NFL Films, so of course it was excellent. I get what the sentiment is despite not even being alive then. Despite living in VA, my dad was a Colts fan back then, eventually becoming a Redskins/Commanders fan over time. But apparently those old Colts teams with Johny U were quite special. It kinda is true that despite keeping the records and colors, there is an obvious separation in the Colts teams. The Colts teams of Johny U and Peyton Manning are kind of like two different teams. Baltimore didn't want to do the same to the Browns, so the Ravens launched as a new franchise with new colors and logos. They left the team history and the team records in Cleveland, which was a nice gesture. So its like you have Colts1, Colts2, Browns1, Ravens1, Browns2 all involved in this situation. Thanks for the vid

Loved Memorial Stadium. Saw my first NFL and MLB games there in the early 1960s.

They know what it is like to have an NFL team. After watching this video, especially the section in which Joe Erhman says that he cannot count the amount of funerals that he has presided over as a pastor in Baltimore... where the Colts Fight Song was played... if you can say that Indy knows what it's like to have THE COLTS... well, okay, if you say so. Thanks!

@@dallasmars2 Your city actually got the Colts because the Md St Legislature attempted to seize the Colts via eminent domain & Indy was close enough to pack the team up into moving vans and get there quickly. There was no love for your city or its people that caused the Colts to move there. It was convenient. Had the Md legislature not done what it did, the Colts would not have moved in 1984, as it was so late in the off season. It was basically April. They mayn't have gone to Indy, at all, as it seemed Irsay favored and had ties in Phoenix and who wouldn't rather be there than in Indianoplace? Unlike when the Colts came to Baltimore from Dallas in 1953... when a local ownership group was formed and 30, 000 season tickets were sold... again in 1953!! Our love for football brought us the Colts... and the Ravens... your team came from desperation on the part of your city and the Irsay's... Your city would have probably gotten an expansion team ten years later had you rejected Irsay... I will agree that Baltimore and Md's pol's failed in getting the Orioles and the Colts a new stadium. However... that move gave Baltimore and the US the best stadium in MLB - Oriole Park @ Canden Yards That move gave you the Irsay's and gave us Art Modell & Steve Bisciotti, and a new stadium that he and Art Modell deserved... and is still one of the best gameday experiences in the NFL... and gave Baltimore the class organization of the NFL... like the Colts were before the Irsay's took them over. The Baltimore Ravens organization is considered one of the best run organizations in all of pro sports, actually. And Baltimore has sold out, with PSL's, a 71, 000 seat stadium for 27 seasons, like it sold out Memorial Stadium from 1957 thru 1971 & in 1996 & 1997; 29 sold out seasons overall in Memorial & M & T Bank Stadium for the Ravens. You have one Title in 40 years with the Irsay's. The Baltimore Colts won 4 Titles in 13 seasons without the Irsay's!!! Baltimore has won two since 1996 & six overall - 1958, 59, 68, 70, 2000 & 2012. And talk to the old Colts and Ravens... and they will tell you that the home field advantage given to them by the Baltimore fans, played a large role in the winning of those 6 NFL Titles!! In retrospect... the pain of the move of the Colts was well worth it!! You now have a chaotic organization headed by an addicted owner, like his Father, that does drugs and gets arrested for DWI's & whom, also like his Father, hires HC's not qualified for the position... and is an embarrassment to your city, like his Father was to your city and my city, as well, lol!! Yeah... Baltimore has sold out its stadiums for more seasons - 44 - than your city has had a team... but we blew it? Baltimore actually began the string of sell out thing in the NFL, and as it says in this video... was the 1st city and stadium where home field advantage was talked about as a real thing. Memorial Stadium was called - The World's Largest Outdoor Insane Asylum!! You can also watch a Monday Night Football opening in which Frank Gifford talks of how that game is like the 50th consecutive sell out or something like that for the Baltimore Colts, lol!!! If it wasn't a unique thing for the era, I don't think he would've mentioned it; and as you said Baltimore's Memorial Stadium wasn't a comfortable venue, and I know from personal experience that it wasn't - it was mostly bleacher seating in the upper deck and in the left and right field seating areas of the lower deck, and in the north end zone, as well. So, calling it a dump is a compliment to the Baltimore fans that sold it out for 15 to 17 seasons, in an era when teams didn't sell out like that!! Your city and its fan base isn't remembered like this. Your stadium was known as loud... BUT ALL DOMES ARE LOUD, LOL!!! You're nothing like Baltimore, KC, Green Bay, Tennessee when the Titans are good Pittsburgh etcetera... all open air and louder than your fans!! So, what happened in Baltimore ? We got saddled with the Irsay's by a vindictive Carroll Rosenbloom... To kill enthusiasm for the Colts in Baltimore was a job that not many could accomplish, but Boob Irsay did that job and did it very well!! Thanks!!
