Ah man this was awesome, the porgs are super cute. But they weren't inspired by the puffins, they WERE the puffins. They essentially sfx'd in "costumes" because the island was covered with those lil buggers. Easier to mask em then to take em out.

You where working with the clay WAAAAY to wet, keeping a balanced moisture level in your water based clay is essential to keeping it easy to work with. It should be almost as easy to work with as any oil based clay, and if you want to do a quick smoothing of your model, be sparing with the water, and if you want to ad a lot of texture to your model and you en up with a lot of little boogies, you an also use alcohol to smooth the clay without turning it to mud, just make sure you let it evaporate first before continuing. also i never recommend using gloves when working with water based clay, it makes it difficult to work with, and you can get rid of fingerprints just by wiping the model down with a very light amount of water and a brush. Hope this helps with future endeavors in the world of clay! I grew up with Indy Mogul and it helped cultivate my love for not only prop building, but making as a whole.
