Adam, I did the same thing with my e type IRS cage and it still looks great 8 years on. I left you a comment on your last video I hope you got it Save your back! Cheers Dave

These parts were never powder coated at the factory anyway, so painting is the way to go. The finish you have achieved looks very good indeed.

Yes.. yes.. we can put a pretty little carb tune right here in the engine bay.. next to our fine timing chain adjustment. Its your classic car, you can make it into what ever you want. -B.Ross

Hi Adam, nice one. Actually I think even I could do that. LOL BTW, the long sheeve T shirt I got from you a few years back, is great for the Canadian winters, and it's wearing really well. Thanks

Good job! This kind of paint, called "Tremclad" here, gives a much better job on this kind of steel with some surface rust than what spray paint would do. I did the same on the rusty electric fan that I use on my XJ40, instead of the engine-driven fan. It works well.
@LivingWithAClassic9 ай бұрын
Thanks for letting me know what it’s called over there. Confusing that they change the name
@alexandrecouture24629 ай бұрын
@@LivingWithAClassicThe paint you use and the Tremclad are made to do the same thing, but I wonder if they have the same chemical composition or not. Tremclad is very good and durable, but rather slow to dry, or cure and it has a strong smell. It takes at least a day to stop being sticky to the touch and then many more days to be more durable. It then takes a few months for it to completely cure through its whole coat.

Hi Adam . Well of course as l've painted concours winning cars for over 54 years , l think you can guess the route l took !!! It's difficult to see if mine is any better than yours !! Cheers !

Nice work Adam, I used that paint in the trunk of my Rover P6 and Citroen DS, looks great. It's definitely cheaper in the US though, at about $15-17 for that same size can....

Here in the states, the BEST is POR15 or Miracle Paint! These put a ceramic seal over the rust. Awesome products! Warning: Wear gloves! If it dries on your hands, nothing can get it off (until it wears off)!
@LivingWithAClassic9 ай бұрын
Those are great products however both require a bit of prep. What I like about this product is the prep is very quick yet it lays a long time
@richardgreene34609 ай бұрын
@LivingWithAClassic I have used both for 30 years. The only prep is to use a wire brush to remove the rust flakes and then paint the metal. I painted a metal can about 30 years ago (when I restored my 62 XKE), leaving it outside. It's the same today as back then. AMAZING! I have not had much luck with rust protection using Rustoluem products! Perhaps, the formula is different in Europe.

Hammerite used to be good, until they took out the nasty xylene solvent. The smell would knock your head off, but it did what it said on the can.
