Enjoy the greatness of being able to use a sharp, thin blade that you can take with you for any meal. Whether that be your favorite steak house that gives you those crummy serrated "steak knives" or if you need a small portable knife for your lunch box.
This is the Kai Personal Steak/Gentleman's Knife - amzn.to/36BgOFM
Blade material = 420J2 Japanese stainless steel
Edge Angle = 16 degree
Spine Thickness of Blade = 1.75 mm
Overall Handle Width = half inch
Body Length = 106.5mm = 4.25 inches
Finger Lever Length = 3/8 inch
Total Closed Length = 4.5”
Blade Length = 82mm = 3 ¼ inches
Usable Handle Length = 3 ⅝ inches
Overall length of 7.5 inches.
Weight = 2.2 ounces
Competitive at a ranking of 93% - There are other folding knives out there, and few that are meant for eating with, but at this price point and how the knife has been performing, it's a solid, go-to option for 2021. Other options I tried were:
CRKT M16-01S - amzn.to/3nfuXiU
CRKT CEO - amzn.to/3nkXkfD
The issue with pocket knives is that the angle of the blade to the handle is angled up so it felt awkward when cutting. With the angle of the Kai, it is flat, if not pointed down, so you don’t have to tilt your hand up more to get your desired cut.
Some of the other slim folding knives out there that I have not used:
amzn.to/2IwfUCo - folding steak knife
amzn.to/2IrE0xU - thin folding knife - Samior
amzn.to/3ln3bAp - Damascus thin camping knife, longer handle

I was thinking if getting the Opinel No.7 or 8 Carbone for a steak knife... What you think

The only issue I've run into, and of course, it's just my personal preference, but I like a skinny blade for eating with. The Opinel looks like it is a multifunction knife where I would think the blade would have a normal thickness to it. You keep it sharp and it'll cut up food, but for a steak knife, I like the thickness of the blade to be skinny like a fillet knife. So the Opinel would work, just depends on your preference. I also like a 1.5 to 2" thick steak so I would prefer a longer knife around 4 to 5 inches to get a good cutting angle. Those are the two main factors I would consider: the thickness of the blade and length of the blade. Let me know what you end up doing and how you like it!

I have been carrying an Opinel #8 garden knife for 5+ years now, it's my city knife, lol... it's too light duty for an EDC but great for going to church or dinner out, no one looks at it sideways when you pull it out in a restaurant to cut your steak, it's easy to keep clean and maintain an edge, it's actually quite thin and being flat ground makes it a real slicer, a perfect table companion and very useful for food prep when on the go... I sanded the wood handle down and gave it an oil finish then braided a short lanyard onto it making pocket retrieval a snap, it's been a conversation piece every time I've used it in public as not many have seen the twist lock on it, the #8 garden knife definitely has a place in my rotation and it's easily in my top 10 favorite knives, just something about its simplicity and function I think... I must admit I do like the gentleman's steak knife in this review too though, lol...

Love the looks of this, and at almost a third the cost of a shun higo-no kami, can't beat it. I had it in my wishlist for a long time, and finally scored a once in a lifetime deal on 4m4zon where I got two for thirty five beanz. Can't wait to use it. Thanks for showcasing it. I'd Love to year your long-term review after having it over a year. Happy Holidays!
