Shortly thereafter, the body of her stepmother is discovered. The murders are gruesome. There are no witnesses; no clues; and within days, suspicion falls squarely on Lizzie Borden.

Lizzie had motive & opportunity. The week before, the row over the house & money Andrew gifted to Abby's relative got so bad, Lizzie & Emna moved out for 3 days. On their return Lizzie told friends the sisters were still avoiding Andrew & Abby & staying in their rooms all day. Uncle John had an airtight alibi. Emma was in Fairhaven. The maid was seen cleaning the exterior rear windows by next doors maid , when Abby died. When Andrew dies, the maid, unwell, is dozing off in her attic bedroom & hears the town clock strike 11am . 5-10 mins later Lizzie raises the alarm. The front door was locked. Lizzie, in the barn, "eating pears, looking out the window", would have seen anyone sneaking in the latched back door. There were no footprints found on the very dusty barn. Lizzie wore the blood soaked coat found under Andrews head to kill them. It was a boiling hot day, Andrew wouldn't need a coat on top of his waistcoat & jacket. The crime scene photo shows 2 sofa cushions. Why go get your coat to use for a cushion in that case? They didn't find a hatchet because Lizzie used the flat iron she'd been ironing with. They came in varying sizes, weighing between 5-9 pounds: & if you look up Abby's autopsy photo the biggest rear head wound matches the flat iron shape. Andres photo is too blurry to see anything. Lizzie had been trying to buy poison the day before the murders. We only have her word the bloody rags in the cellar bucket were menstrual. 2 days later she burns a dress stating it had 'paint' on it. . The sisters inherited the equivalent of $4 million each in todays money. Lizzie was known to steal. Store owners turned a blind eye & charged it to Andrews account. After the murders there was another stealing incident of two small pictures. The incident, after making the papers, seemed to suddenly go away. Paid off ? By Lizzie?

Lizzie wasnt a very smart criminal-- she didnt make sure she had an alibi like Emma, Uncle John & Bridget did. She didn't fake love for her stepmom, or fake horror & grief & fear at their murders. Too honest about her true feelings odd how before the murders both Abby ( victim) & Lizzie (accused) mention to family doctor & neighbor/friend fear for personal safety due to many enemies. Yet the only enemy focused on was Lizzie ..

Totally not a massive red flag there’s a major factual error not even five minutes in. Her full name was Lizzie it’s even in her inquest transcripts. They say you were so Christened and she responds I was so christened. I’m scared about how much reserch was actually done here

William borden took the hatchet that he used to talk to like it was a pet from under his left arm and gave Abby Borden 17 blows because she walked into uncle John's bedroom were he was secreted by uncle john to wait for his appointment with Andrew Borden to discuss recognizing him even though he was illegitimate, and give him the inheritance he was demanding. He was placed there to hide him from bridget and Abby. Lizzy was supposed to get bridget out of the house. Andrew was supposed to get Abby out of the house. His machinations went awry, Abby needed to change her dress to go see a sick friend. Her dresses were in the closet in uncle John's room. She ran right into william borden. She was snarky to him, and according to the letter of confession he sent the fall river police, she mocked his mother(who died in an insane asylum). She probably didn't tell him that Andrew was going to give him a large sum of money, which he had withdrawn from the bank that day. Insanely angry at being denied, he waited to give Andrew a little of what he had just given his wife. Andrew may not have been able to speak before he was blitz attacked. Lizzy was outside to give her father his privacy when meeting with this young man. She was probably the only Borden who recognized how dangerous he was. She wrote in her diary, 'I fear for my father's life." She confided in her friend Alice, I fear something bad is going to happen. Lizzy saw William borden leave the house through the cellar door, dispatching Abby cat with a hatchet blow on the cellar stairs as a going away present. Lizzy, thinking the meeting was over came back into the house and found her father chopped to pieces. Lizzy, Emma, and Uncle John all knew who the murderer was. To tell the fall river police would put her father's dirty secret out for public consumption. They would dirty his name and make a laughing stock of him. The Bordens closed ranks. They refused to wash their dirty linen in public. They also disappeared Andrew's will. It was possible William Borden was mentioned in it. They probably also didn't think he should be monetarily rewarded for chopping two people to pieces.
