Virtually all the doctors associated with high level cycling have considerable expertise re: doping ... only a few get caught though.

True. Everyone already knows what to take and what works. The magic is not getting caught. That’s what the doctors are for.

I Might have to get off the coffee at breakfast I'm at 43 ferratin, trying to have it at morning tea so it doesn't inhibit iron absorption. Did hear on another podcast that 80/90 was a good level to be at for male athletes which is what Ferari suggests too

Whats the deal with iron? I mean what happens if you're low on iron ? Is iron specifically important to athletes like cyclists for some reason. What makes iron important? Dig your channel.

Thanks. Iron is important, but it's not the only thing to focus on, it just seems to have come up frequently in my videos by co-incidence. Iron does a lot of things but importantly it's needed to make haemoglobin, the part of red blood cells that transport oxygen. Iron deficiency = limited oxygen carrying capacity in the blood = poor performance. Not to mention you'll feel fatigued in general off the bike. Other thing with iron is it's "easy" to be low in because it has a high turn over rate in the body, especially for females. Other minerals/nutrients like calcium, if you don't get enough it may take you months to see an impact because the turnover rate is lower and your body can store a lot of it.
