I like what marvel does with its villains to make them better heroes than the originals. Dr. Doom becomes Iron Man but with magic too, Doc Oc becomes Spiderman but, well, superior, and Venom becomes Agent Venom, basically being Spiderman with guns and a cooler paint job.

Dr Doom is the most tragic and heart breaking character in Marvel, he fights for the Love and Devotion he has to his Mother, a most Superb story, one that the MCU has been very clumsy in handling. I don't know about all of you, but Dr Doom is the best Character in Marvel, greater still than the best, most iconic characters. Dr Doom is as bad ass as Darth Vader, but even more awesome still, he fought Mephisto and won, that makes him equal to Dr Strange but more worthy because of his great suffering. Let's hope Dr Doom gets his own movie, show and more, better Comics.

Me too, I like his sort of attitude towards being a hero, it's not really an instinctive thing, more like "what would a hero do?" sort of mentality. Like he's not instantly some saint now he's trying to be better, there's moments where he's sort of altering his thought process.

Mark Waid, who is a far better writer than Bendis in general but particularily regarding actual superhero stuff is also getting to play with this Doom, as Doom is showing up in next arc of Waid's Avengers run to take Tony's place on that team also. So that should be fun!

eThug I know that. alternate reality richards is still a richards. they couldn't make regular Richards evil, especially when there's an evil one already. they're keeping the structure of "doom vs Richards" alive so as a character the phycological impact gets to cut deeper, making for a richer and nuanced narrative. just look at the characters reintroduced. richards, mother, thing, and probably more to come. so this story gets a lot of psychological tension, with the protagonist have to overcome his past and how others perceive him. this story has a lot of potential for a complexity your not going to see to often in mainstream comics... but we'll see

Small correction: in the final fight of Secret Wars between Doom and Mr. Fantastic, the big question because of which the Molecule Man change the godly power from Doom to Reed wasnt the one you said. Instead. Reed tells Doom that "they both know that he (Reed) would have manage everything better than Doom", and when Doom says "yes", admiting that, Molecule Man gives his powers to Reed.

I've always been an Iron Man fan, ever since the 90's animated series. lol my 5 year old self had a field day with that Spiderman and the X-Men series. But I was aprehensive about this whole Infamous Iron Man and Iron Heart. But I'm kind of all on board this train of duality. I mean, seeing Dr. Doom as a hero is INCREDIBLE. It's so interesting because we still get the Dr. Doom we know and love but in a way that is sooo refreshing.

The reason is because it costs money to test the waters; printing a run is not free, and it's easier to ease people into a character by having them appear in established comic series rather than solo debuts. It's still testing the waters, but in a more controlled environment.
