On Paul's idea of a Yu-Gi-Oh anime in like medieval times where they use magic to summon monsters, the entire reason Takahashi created Duel Stadiums and the Duel Disk was because it was impossible for EVERY adversary to have magic. Sure there were some like Pegasus, Bakura and Marik but it just didn't work in the 90's Japanese High School/Tournament setting. That said, I do understand wanting a more grounded series like DM. Pretty much since late GX, the anime have been getting more and more ridiculous. Card games on motorcycles, space, interdimensional war, VR, space again. Maybe Sevens is the closest to DM but it is also pretty goofy. It's more like early GX S1. I think it's always been the appeal of Yu-Gi-Oh that it does blend ancient magic and futuristic tech best seen in Yugi and Kaiba. I wouldn't mind doing a more grounded DM style series even if it's a Rush Duel series but you still got to have the Duel Disk.

I loved what you guys were talking about when it came to college and making sure someone is being taught properly and not wasting your money. Simply reading a book or copying off of a black board was never the way I learned so I struggled when it was only that. When there was interaction and practice application of the information I was learning, I was able to absorb and retain it a lot easier.

18:50 As a new Digimon player, my main criticism of the game and my main fear is that Bandai don’t see Digimon as a TCG, it’s more like a toy for them where they put out the cards but have no interest in managing formats or any of the other overhead of managing a TCG. This is why they put out so many TCGs that cannibalise each other, they are just another Digimon product, just another Dragon Ball Z or One Piece product, meant to capitalise on fans as an IP rather than drawing in new players as a TCG. So they aren’t making a digital client because the product is the cards, not the concept of a card game with a community.

New member hype! As predicted, Digimon Card Game did not announce a simulator. Bandai's failure to move One Piece/Digimon/Union Arena digital in a timely manner may doom their games and gives me no hope for the Gundam TCG. Even with a digital client, Dragon Ball Super Fusion World is struggling so how do they think the others will maintain momentum? As far as "brain rot" goes, I'd say every summer vacation from K-12 was brain rot. Felt like starting all over again each year as I almost learned nothing during the summer. Now at 34, brain rot for me is "doom scrolling" on Reddit, barely looking at any articles while not knowing what I want to do at the moment until an hour has magically gone by.

In regards to higher tier structure decks, Flesh and Blood has 'Armory Decks' which are products meant to be bought and played out of the box at locals and then upgraded, but as they are they already stand a chance especially in the hands of experienced players. My locals have been won by these precons a couple of times. Theyre about $40 and usually have max copies of great cards, just not including the highest tier upgrades. If yugioh had something similar I would def be buying.

FaB is my main TCG, so it seems strange that for Yugioh there’s like an assumption or acceptance that buying “a” deck means buying multiple copies. I suppose like eBay $40-“competitive” decks are the exception. If I’m not mistaken, Pokémon starter decks and MtG Commander decks just need one copy. Don’t quote me on that though.

The level 3 deck idea isn't bad, but i guess what they can do is give people a list of decks that have previously won events, and fans could vote for which deck they'd like to see printed. They probably would pick decks from a few years ago, but at least that would give newer/players with less disposable income, ways to get powerful decks, and also decks that contain many good staples. It costing double can work as well.

They do the competitive decks in so many other games. Just upcharge it to a more expensive rarity upped deck that is for people that look to buy and maybe modify here and there to make it better but it would be successful out of the box.

A trip down memory lane with Playstation stories, I had a PS2 before a PS1. I owned and loved to play dbz budokai 1,2 & 3, need for speed carbon, turok evolution, area 51, spiderman 2, godzilla save the earth, crash bandicoot warped and spyro enter the dragonfly. I don't exactly remember how I got a PS1, I think maybe a friend of my family had it and no longer wanted it, even tho you can play PS1 games on PS2 I still played on both. I remember some games functioned better with PS1 controller or PS2 regardless what console you played it with (generally the PS2 was better) I had memory cards for both too, which I still have to this day. PS1 games I owned and loved to play were dino crisis 1 & 2, spyro ripto's rage and ape escape. So much fun playing all those games but a treasured memory of mine is with dino crisis 1. I was around 8 years old playing this game and my dad actually took part in helping, literally my sidekick. There are puzzles, key codes and passwords you would need to memorize or write down to progress in game. He was right there with me while I played, writing stuff down and trying to solve these things. We got to a point that had us stuck, needed a key to unlock a door and we couldn't find it. Then I got the 2nd game and never went back. I've owned all Playstation consoles from 1-5, 30th anniversary feels special since I'll also be 30 in the next few months. It didn't hit me until I updated PS5 with the new features, backgrounds are cool but it's the boot up sequence they added that really hits me, pure nostalgia. They stated it's for a limited time but my god.. can I please KEEP IT that way 🙏😁

Actually, a series taking place in medieval times could be interesting. Maybe tie it a little to Arthurian legend, the duelists are wizards and shamans and shit. The monsters we know as legends are being summoned by these guys, so we see dragons and manticores and whatnot and the average person thinks these things are just a naturally occurring thing in the world because they don't know about magic and so forth. Also, to answer a question from way early in the episode: Upper Deck makes the VS2PCG, which has some similarities to Lorcana. They also make a handful of deck building games including the quite excellent Legendary.

Loved the lawsuit segment! As someone who was mostly connected to YGO through the anime (until a year ago I started somewhat consistently playing with a small group), it was nice to hear the details about the Konami vs. Upper Deck thing and I didn't know how wild these suits could get. As someone who studied AI, keep in mind that part of, if not most of, Sam Altman's job is to hype up AI so his company can raise money for their activities. He's gonna over-inflate the capabilities of AI models because that's just part of the job. I agree with Paul's point that while AI is doing amazing things, it seems to still have limited impact. Like I would get more worried when these models start to design and execute scientific experiments because until then, they're more assistants than replacements. And imo it's not clear we're near that point.

I was torn between buying a 64 or a PS. I eventually decided to get the 64 because I wanted the Nintendo games. My Mom bought me a used PS from Blockbuster, with FF7 and no memory card... I ended up melting the plastic housing around my laser because I had to keep my PS on since I couldn't save. I eventually had to play with my PS on it's side and then it got so bad it would only read the disc if it was upside-down... Bought a PS2 when it was launched and also ended up getting an Xbox and a GC later. I WANTED to get a PS3, I really liked the Ratchet & Clank games and wanted to play the new one. BUT everyone I knew at the time had a 360 and played Halo...so I got a 360. Now I've got a library of over 500 games on my Xbox account so getting back into Sony at this point would just be a money hole. I wish I had the money to have all of the game consoles like I did back in the PS2/Xbox/GC era, but that's probably never happening again.

Quick followup: "Meme" was coined in the 70s as a parallel to "gene," where "gene" referred to genetic traits of humans, and "meme" referred to non-genetic shared traits that arent taught. Original memetic behavior was, for example, building pyramids. This then changed to define things catching on and was taught- like music genres or dance moves. Original online memes were things like Socially Awkward Penguin or Bachelor Frog because it was people sharing their behaviors that were very relatable to others in the same circumstances, even if no one taught them these behaviors, ie they developed organizally as part of the human condition. Now, memes have evolved to mean anything people agree with.

For the stater deck thing, card fight vanguard still has those where they are like 40 bucks and you get playsets of everything you need. But they have a higher rarity ver that is really expensive if you want them all in sp foiling. It's a scary process though because when they first started it with legend deck Ren it was on par with the best decks in format but since it was only 40 bucks everyone would get it causing locals to get really boring and almost killed the game for a lot of folks at the time.

i don't goto locals or play irl for any tcg anymore its all digital if there isn't a digital ill wait until one comes out to play their game i liked digimon and would try it if they do come out with a digital version still waiting on lorcana online but atm i play master duel, duel links, hearthstone, the bazaar, pokemon tcg pocket and live, and LoR and am around the top rated for each of these master duel being my lowest ranking in gold but usually in the top rank mythic, legend, KOG i love tcgs and hate leaving my house 🤷‍♂

I'm sure some people just like the game, and are spending a few dollars to support it, but SOME people are being idiots about TCG Pocket. They think because trading is supposed to come to the game, that they can "invest" and flip the cards later after they rotate out, which is honestly stupid as all F. There may be a couple of grifters who find an idiot to scam and make a come up, but the vast majority of them just flushed their money in a toilet.

I want more serious UC content. Please, sunrise. Just give me Hathaway part 2. I watch all of the gundam anime officially, I have spent probably 2+ grand on model kits. When will I get my fix? Why must you hurt me? Where is my damn G-self Ver Ka I voted for years ago bandai? I am still pissed barbatos got a master grade kit before G-self. I will take more 00 content, maybe even more wing... Just give me my fix, sunrise... This series sounds like the kind of generic mech story I would have written when I was 15. I know, I still have access to generic mech story number 37389209 I wrote when I was younger. It seriously looks and sounds like a generic series with the "Gundam" name slapped on to sell better.

I dont get the hate of AI. Its the future and using it isnt a bad thing, maybe artist using it to copy others work and saying they made it sure. Like yes ai can be sloppy espically in the finer detail but the work devs can put in will be cut in half to focus on other stuff even more content. The devs can make the generic world layout with AI and then fine comb and fix the problems and improve details. Like why hate it when its the future

You're talks on AI and "brain rot", to no fault of your own, reflect exactly what those companies want from you all, the average users. AI will soon impact all our our day-to-days in ways that the average consumer can't really fathom right now. Once it does hit us, most people will be hit negatively in economical ways because we will not be ready for it. Companies and business are very anxious to lay off people for AI; and no, there will not be "new jobs" that pay well to replace all those unemployed people. Next, companies and governments have, do, and will continue to use AI and "brain rot" to keep people ignorant, apathetic, and/or lazy. These things will never quit be obvious to the average person as they happen.
