Back in the seventies I did a lot of these kinds of these kinds of plasma experiments, including the "phantom leaf" effect. I used method of leaf cutting I'd seen on a TV documentary. The leaf was held down and a razor was pushed onto the leaf to remove a section. After a few tries and I did indeed see the "phantom leaf" between the energized glass plates, BUT on careful observation I noted that the plasma what slightly induced on the area where the cut leaf section had touched the glass. Moisture had been left behind and contaminated the area. That is what I reported in my high school physics project.

My theory is that some people may actually "perceive" auras but it is a form of synaesthesia, mush like when words or sounds have a colour or taste to some people.
@SteamSigun3 жыл бұрын
it may depend on person, but personally I don't think it's that similar. for reference, I 'see' in my mind colors of sounds/voices (when I'm in the mood it's almost like having an abstract music video) and perceive what some would call 'auras'. it's not like putting a colorful filter over a photo in photoeditor, more like another property, like for example- a person may have a certain look, voice, mannerisms, etc. not all of those properties are sth 'visual' and as 'color' is what is usually related to visible things it may sound like it contradicts itself, it just feels as the best way of describing. it's hard to describe it as there's no easy method to quantify synesthetic experiences besides relying on each person's words plus synesthetic experiences can vary from person to person. also, as auras are referenced in various belief systems and their description may vary depending on cultural background. it may be a tricky task trying to compare all sorts of different experiences. lastly, what I don't see mentioned on topics related to synesthesia (at least in my case)- it requires attention to be 'visible'. I did a little experiment, when I started paying less attention to colors of music, they started being less prominent. after a while I focused on 'consciously' listening to music and colors became more prominent, gained more visibility, had texture and nuances in color. but they never went away completly.

Hi Jay, there is another explanation i tried personally, if you make corona for a longer time with the entire leaf, the humidity and oils will be deposited on the glass surface, due to corona heating, so then even if you remove the leaf (or a part) you can see corona leaf shape coming out from the "oils" footprint
@chance19865 жыл бұрын
I was about to suggest the same possible explanation. I agree this could explain the very faint "phantom" part. Of course, the cut leaf must be returned to the same position as the original photo.
@PlasmaChannel5 жыл бұрын
Wonderful input! I actually first figured that is how it was done. I tried creating a 'grease' image of the leaf, then cutting off a part of the leaf and putting back perfectly where the wettened image was. I could not get it to light up the wet imprint of the leaf despite multiple tries.
@nathenperri28263 жыл бұрын
I honestly thought that the leaf expelled some type of conductive liquid on the platform before you cut it as a result of the plasma exiting it, but I could not see how you would have been able to line the cut leaf exactly where the whole leaf was. Cool channel, you do plasma, I do compounds!

But why would the smaller cut piece not show the rest of the leaf just as the bigger one does for the smaller cut? It doesn’t add up. Also shouldn’t the aura stick with the plant these were from and not a leaf from it once it’s cut? Because then the leaf would generate the whole plant in its aura. Why would it chose which specific thing to replicate then technically it’s all a cut... but in a different spot.

In his attempt in the video to deconstruct this theory, the presenter did not see that indeed at 02:42:18 & 03:10:13 the phantom effect manifests itself for a while. Why; It was probably edited so it wouldn't show! don't tell us that he put the sheet in exactly the same position the second time! There are pictures. (Holographic associative memory of biological systems Gariaev, Peter P. (Moskvorechie Scientific and Technical Ctr., Russia); Chudin, Viktor I. (Moskvorechie Scientific and Technical Ctr., Russia); Komissarov, Gennady G. (Moskvorechie Scientific and Technical Ctr., Russia); Berezin, Andrey A. (Theoretical Problems Dept., Russia); Vasiliev, Anatoly A. (P.N. Lebedev Physical Institute, Russia) Abstract. We consider some specific problems and phenomena of morphogenetic information storage, reproduction, and transfer including phantom leaf effect and field-induced morphogenetic translations between different taxonomic units. Several experimental results are presented and their explanation is given using a new approach to morphogenesis which combines some physical models of holographic associative memory and the mathematical formalism of Fermi- Pasta-Ulam recurrence for solitary waves in deoxyribonucleic acid.) including phantom leaf effect say the Harvard! There is another phainomenon the DNA Phantom effect. The answer: John Hubacher. The Phantom Leaf Effect: A Replication, Part 1. The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine.Feb 2015.83-90.doi.org/10.1089/acm.2013.0182 Published in Volume: 21 Issue 2: February 16, 2015 Online Ahead of Print:January 20, 2015 Objectives: To replicate the phantom leaf effect and demonstrate a possible means to directly observe properties of the biological field. Design: Thirty percent to 60% of plant leaves were amputated, and the remaining leaf sections were photographed with corona discharge imaging. All leaves were cut before placement on film. A total of 137 leaves were used. Subjects: Plant leaves of 14 different species. Results: Ninety-six phantom leaf specimens were successfully obtained; 41 specimens did not yield the phantom leaf effect. Conclusions: A normally undetected phantom “structure,” possibly evidence of the biological field, can persist in the area of an amputated leaf section, and corona discharge can occur from this invisible structure. This protocol may suggest a testable method to study properties of conductivity and other parameters through direct observation of the complete biological field in plant leaves, with broad implications for biology and physics.

Jerry W Davis that was the point of the video. All double exposures. All edited. You can tell because a lot of pictures from the 70’s... the outline of the corona doesn’t even match the outline of the part of the leaf that’s still there.

Most won't read this but maybe you should.. I Would just like to point out that when a thing like a leaf grows into existence, it does not grow into a field or area allotted for it but rather pushes all matter away in an attempt to make room for itself amongst the world of matter. Imagine a leaf growing under water and it pushes the matter away. Pretty simple concept to grasp but still kind of amazing in itself but also brings rise to the thought: how many things in our lives are incredible and amazing but do so in unseen because we can't take the time to look and appreciate how incredible and amazing they are. On second thought, if the plant is accumulating matter to grow then it is in a since just moving allocated space and matter. Still amazing.

Thank you for testing this. It is amazing to me that anyone still believes this! But I feel the same about a lot of pseudo-scientific BS out there. I was a kid when I read about the famous Kirlian leaf ghost image. I read a critique of it. At the time, Kirlian photography was done by placing a sheet of photography paper that is inside a light tight envelope onto a metal plate. The object, hand, etc. was placed on top of the envelope. A spike of high voltage is fired into the metal plate. The film is developed to reveal the discharges. The secret was that, as witnesses reported, a piece of black construction paper was set on top of the envelope, a damp leaf set down, then one end lifted and cut. The dampness had wetted the construction paper, resulting in a partial ghost image of the cut leaf. Other experiments done by cutting a leaf and setting it down, or by using a leaf that had not previously been wetted, had no such ghost image.

Im not sure exactly how they got these results but it seems like there are probably more factors to kirlian photography than tested in this debunking video. Perhaps you have to find the correct resonating voltage input, I'm not sure. It seems unlikely that the whole phenomenon was just double exposure photographs. Harold S. Burr discovered the phantom phenomenon at Yale university, he did the phantom salamander experiments in the 40's and continued to teach at yale to 1958. I don't think they would allow someone to do something that blatantly fraudulent and continue representing their school. Keith Wagner did the leaf photographs at California state in the 70's then published evidence refuting sceptics claims that it was just moisture on the plate in "osteopathic physician" journal 1976. Seems like he would have been exposed if it was only a fraudulent double exposure photo.

Hi there!...cool video....apparently another way to get the image of the fantom leaf was that the leafs humidity stayed on the glass and when they put the cut one back, they put it exactly at the previous place and the shocks followed the water on the glass showing where the leave was before it was cut.! Apparently nobody was ever able to reproduit the effect!

Okay, so are saying that you, in this video, doubly-exposed those leaves during the brief intervals when the whole leaves flashed onto the screen? You never explicitly stated that is what you did.
@PlasmaChannel3 жыл бұрын
That is correct, and is what a double exposure counts as. Two photos laced together to appear as one picture. But, in this case, I laced together individual frames.

The problem is that once out, time did some weird stuff, it coalesced and events started overlapping and the noise got loud.
