That main feature is called a "ramp", not a staircase, and I'm sure it was to accommodate wheelchairs....

Hi. Very interesting architecture for that time. Did you say the Adrianic, in referring to the part of ocean this place faces. It's in Croatia? I would love to see photos that may still exist of it in it's day.
