I was an L&D nurse and took care of a mom whose uterus ruptured but baby and mom both did just fine. She was VBAC so continuous monitoring was an absolute must. Baby started decelling and mom was screaming in pain even though she had an epidural. We brought her to the OR, put mom to sleep, once the OB opened her abdomen it was a mess. But baby was still alive. Didn’t need resuscitating. We were all very blessed.

My God-Daughter had her uterus rupture, her little guy survived. After that happened, she was diagnosed with Ehrlo-Danlos syndrome, the worst kind. It was found that all her veins and arteries are in great danger of rupture. Life expectancy is only 50 years. She was very lucky that she is alive and her son, as well.

Your story reminds me of my birth story with my little boy I had a stillbirth in feb because of a placental abbruption but I was rushed to a C-section and put under as well and then in the icu from massive blood loss. So sorry for your loss I can’t imagine the pain of seeing your baby pass.

Sweet blessing to you. I am so sorry. I lost my partner unexpectedly 5 years ago. I recognize that flatness. Please reach out to a grief therapist and support group. I know that it feels like through helping others, you are healing (and you are). But, taking deep care of your emotional health right now is very important. Find your tears. You are amazing.

As an L&D nurse, I find it devastating that your baby was not checked on for an hour while you were being induced. We do continuous monitoring during induction, so if baby was crashing we would know immediately. Im so sorry that this happened. Absolutely heartbreaking.
@alannajosie3608
@alannajosie3608 Жыл бұрын
In a hospital here in New Zealand, the guideline with oral misoprostal induction (which is likely to be the induction method she mentions in the video) is that you are on the CTG for 20minutes prior the first dose, and then for 40 minutes following that dose. Each subsequent dose (up to 8 doses in 24 hours, 2 hours apart) requires 20minutes of CTG prior to administration to ensure wellbeing of baby. Then freedom to move about etc. It is not until active labour is established, or if there is a concerning feature of CTG or concern expressed, that continuous monitoring occurs.
@alliesong77
@alliesong77 Жыл бұрын
@@alannajosie3608 Yeah, we keep a patient on the monitor for at least 1 hour following each oral dose, but if there are signs that my patient was in active labour, or my patient was experiencing this level of pain, I would begin monitoring the baby and contractions immediately. The protocol is only used for normal situations when everything is as expected. I have never seen a patient on misoptostol screaming in pain, ergo not normal.

@@alannajosie3608 that's surprising to me. I had 2 inductions in the US and they hooked me up to the belly monitor the second I was admitted. I even signed consent forms while on the monitor. With my oldest, I had preeclampsia and they couldn't get a good reading from the belly monitor. They put electrodes in my son's scalp through my cervix (that was fun!!!!) to get continuous monitoring. The first set of electrodes didn't work, so they had to do it twice. That was before I got an epidural 🥴🥴🥴 but my son is here, so I can't complain much ❤️

@@alannajosie3608 That sounds so crazy compared to the US. I know we go overboard with medical procedures at times but Cytotac has/had a black box warning "not for use during pregnancy", for this exact reason. They would induce primes with it and their uterus would burst. To give it and not monitor would get you a malpractice lawsuit here and possible loss of privileges/license review for the doctor, for good reason. It is so heartbreaking as it's so preventable.

I asked my OB if he has ever seen a catastrophic uterine rupture. He has like decades of experience and the hospital he works at gets 5k patients a year. He said he has seen it happen in the hospital between all of those patients, but none of his ever. So it’s super rare. I’m so so sorry this tragedy found you! 😔

When I had our first baby I was in labor for 23 hours... My water had broken first and my contractions didn't start for a while... They started me on pitocin after my contractions had started to try to get them to last longer so they were effective enough to dilate me... When she was finally born it was really a very bloody birth but of course no one knew at the time why... As I started recovering from the birth I had bleeding that was lasting past 6 weeks and I wasn't really in pain but just had like pressure that felt like everything was going to fall out...I went to my new doctor because we had moved out of town and he was concerned so I had a laproscopic surgery done and it revealed a rather large hole in my uterus! I ended up having major surgery to put a patch on it and was told that I could have more children but would require a c-section so that my uterus didn't have any contractions to cause it to rupture again... We ended up having another baby girl about 2 years after our first and all went well... Then when the girls were 16 and 18 years old we had our son by c-section and everything was fine then too... I sure do pray that you and your husband can have another baby... I feel very blessed to have my children knowing now how badly things could've been... You are so amazing and strong! Thank you for sharing your story because I have never heard of someone else having a uterine rupture...

@danatramell3036 The first part of your story is very similar to mine...with my first, I was scheduled to be induced, but my water broke the night before! My son ended up being delivered via c-section 24+ hrs later, and thankfully, I didn't have any other complications. Your story took a much more serious turn (obviously), and I'm so glad you and your babies were all alright! ❤️

First of all, sorry for your loss. There is no greater pain a mother can experience 😔💔 When my mom was in labor with me (27 years ago) her uterus ruptured and she was rushed into an emergency c section. The doctors and nurses fully prepared my dad to lose both of us. They were so sure we both wouldnt make it, but asked him to decide if they could only save one of us, which one he'd like them to try to save. Thankfully, miraculously, we both made it, and are both here today. Im currently 30 weeks with my 3rd baby girl, and thinking of their experience bringing me into the world terrifies me beyond belief. At the same time im glad to be aware of this being possible because it's not something discussed very often.

who did he choose? I can't imagine being asked this, and I do think I've recently seen a movie where someone had this same scenario, and i don't remember what the dad in the movie chose to do, it's really impossible to put that question to anyone

I was told that with "larager" babies (my middle child was 9 lbs at 35 weeks) that this is possible. This is also why so many babies are induced here in the US.

Yes a lot of women have more health issues due to the wound that these big babies leave, especially if it’s a traumatic birth. A normal wound left is the size of a dinner plate, so with more trauma & stress, we don’t know exactly what can happen then.

I also had a general anaesthetic C-section following induction of my first baby in Australia. They did use the Foley catheter and pitocin before the C-section became necessary. I am so so sorry to hear about your experience from over the pond, Leo is such a beautiful baby. Xxx best wishes

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 [1]Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; [2]By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. [3]For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; [4]And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

That's heartbreaking. My mother-in-law experienced the same thing, and her little girl didn't make it. Died 15 minutes before she was born and my mother-in-law had to have 5 transfusions to keep from bleeding out. It was so hard on the whole family. My husband never got to see her and its still hard on him today. Only the Lord Jesus got them through.
