These videos were made at the beginning of the COVID-19 shut down. The students in my child development course were unable to get observations done as a result. I initially intended on filming an hour long video with no interference. For various circumstances this was not going to work, so I began focusing on the skills my students were looking for. It’s far from perfect as far as observations go, but we did our best.

You are a lifesaver! This is exactly what I needed for an observation paper. Thank you!

I notice at one point a child was "playing" with some dust on the floor. This reminds me that sometimes kids like LESS stimulation than MORE. Sometimes there can be too many toys. Too much noise. A treasure basket is great.

Thank you for making this video! My counseling program is also using it for a human development course. I also want to say that having watched and re-watched this video, both to observe Paul and Jay, I feel like I know them! It's been over a year since you made this video and I imagine they've grown a lot. Does Paul like the fish toy now? Is Jay better at making "good choices"? I hope you're all doing well :)

Thank you that is sweet! Paulie is into everything now but the fish toy has been passed on to cousins. Jay was going through some painful medical stuff at the time so that still has its negative affect in some ways but he has certainly matured a lot. They are both healthy and mostly happy boys :)

Why is everyone so grateful that they can use this observational video for their ECE classes? When I was in school all observation had to be done in person. Always!
