Today I will be covering how to survive The Late Game in Infection Free Zone.
Infection Free Zone is a base builder survival game. You'll face off against enemy survivors and infected. Both of these enemies come with challanges.
In this guide I will show you how to set up your base to be able to tackle these challenges and help you survive into the late game.
I will cover Squads, towers, resource management, Swarm tracking and ammo production.

@@frabre1810 True! I'm not denying that, zombies is just fun to say! I'd equate the infected in the game to the vampire like creatures in the movie "I am Legend"

just spam the radio for survivors, make lots of food and have housing instead of shelters for happiness so you pump out babies. medium-large maps has a lot of resources.

What's the endgame so far like? My last event is the Major giving me a last chance and killed all of my 5 heavily armed veteran squads but I restarted lol.

To be perfectly honest. Once you get food production going and you're deconstructing buildings and making guns its really just building a ton of towers and squads and killing hordes when they spawn. With population cap being low it kinda flames out at about day 60. I'm hoping they add some endgame objectives or extend the cap for bigger settlements!

How do you getthe barn? Ive had it once where i started with it unlocked but tried multiple times and cant figure it out

If you turn off the tutorial missions it'll be automatically unlocked. If not you have to keep searching buildings until it prompts you to make one!

I got to around Day 55 - 65 and after like 40 or so, I think that was basically it. No more campaign missions or cool interactions. I don't like how the Hordes just keep getting bigger and bigger and I don't like how I can't stop my population from growing, thereby forcing me to have to kill off people if I want to maintain my current size of zone. Why even put the Birthing of Babies to Adults in this game if anyway in the end I can just call for 20 - 50 new arrivals on a whims notice lol? At least let me tell my people "STOP HAVING KIDS" lmao. Also this. Most important thing. Hordes should have a cap tied to the amount of people you have in your zone, NOT the number of Days you've been alive, otherwise, eventually you'll lose no matter what. The hordes will eventually outnumber you. The best strategy to combat Hordes that I've seen is from a video calling something like "Making a Killbox in NFZ" but the thing is, that method involves using big buildings as natural barricade/fence and then link you just link a fence together between each big building and INSIDE of that area is where you have your actual buildings that are Adapted and stuff. Your settlement, basically. I didn't see that video til Day 50 and it's basically impossible at this point cause I made a giant traditional type of settlement like yours that's walled off like in The Last Of Us Campaign buttttt I did try to make "Kill Boxes" on all 4 edges of my settlements main wall equipped with Fortified Towers.... but it didn't seem to work. The Zombies just keep going for the main base/settlement wall and breaking in, even if I do manage to lure a couple of hordes with a car into one of the little Killboxe maze areas. *sigh* Again, I wish the end game let me cap my Population and capped the increase in Horde size cause eventually once it gets too far into the Days (like 50+) then you basically are screwed in game and performance wise. After my Population got past maybe 250 or so, It started lagging. I had the smoothest 120 FPS or more until then. It really sucks. I also wish there was a "lock" of sorts on buildings cause for example, what if I found some good sized buildings to adapt into Barns, Gun/Arm Factories/Chemical plants but what if they can handle like 50 workers BUT I only need maybe 20 workers per building? Now every time I need to switch between Guards, Farming, Factory Workers etc. It's going to be a manual juggle im going to have to go through to get the right setup/amount of people to each position. The counter to this, you might think (like I did) was to utilize small buildings instead so I can slowly make more or less as I need to see fit, and THIS WORKS NICELY. The problem however, obviously, is that you'll need to now cover a much wider area of small buildings with more watch towers and that's just more messy. I also now need to go into each individual building and switch food types or gun types which is kinda nice but again, what would be much nicer, is if we could "Lock" the amount or "Cap" the amount of workers we need in each Facility/Building so every time we hit the "Max" button on our "Farming" workers, it always just goes up to the exact number we need to maintain the current settlement size. Another thing, does anyone not find it weird that the Gates can hold 6 Archers or whatever, but the Towers, the same exact towers used on "Gates" can only hold 2 each? The developer should at least make it so that the highest tiered Tower, can actually hold 3 by itself, that would be so sick and actually make people appreciate upgrading more than just getting more HP with the highest tiered tower. I wouldn't have to spam as many damn towers too. Side Notes: Trees should definitely grow back, or there should be people that can replant trees inside of a designated zone. I get not having Concrete or Metal respawn but come on, trees? The dev should just AT LEAST make it so that Trees do not grow back in any area that is compeletely walled off all the way around. Each Squad Leader's voice should be tied to their Gender. It's weird getting the same Male voice when I pick a female squad leader. By Day 25 I was thinking "This game is a solid 10/10 man." but after all these issues, I'm thinking 7/10 on Steam is definitely justified. It's so close to being great. An improvement on Graphics to make it look more like the graphics we see at the Boot Menu would make it a 7.5 or 8.0, seriously that would be awesome. More from the best Steam review of this game - Squads and citizens move too slow. It would be nice if citizens move faster, but squad move way too slow compared to zombies. Your squad moves like they're leisurely taking a walk, while the zombies move like Usain Bolt, couple this with the fact that squad can't fight back while they're moving, but zombies can, and you will always lose a squad or two every single night, sometimes every single squads that you created while the defending massive hordes every night. Please, don't NERF the zombies' speed, just buff the squads and the citizens. - Citizens move resources too slow. They should be able to use the vehicle that I got to move between the scavenge zone and the base to move resources and scavenge faster. - Buildings are literal papers. It only takes a group of 20 zombies like a minute to dismantle the 'fortified' walls that took me DAYS to make. Speaking of walls, the difference in HP between the wall, tower, and gate of the same material is just ridiculous, like tower and gate have five times the hp compared to walls, and don't get me started on the 2000 hp for a six-stories buildings. (YES THIS MAKES NO SENSE. It made me want to just connect a bunch of Gates all the way around instead of a Fortified Wall. It makes absolutely NO sense.) - Days and nights are still to short. ( I agree so heavily. The in-game time moved 5 Minutes and I just went down 1 single block. It doesn't take 5 minutes in real life to drive down a single block...) - Squad can't fight back while moving, and also too weak. (I HATE this) - Can't build your own building at all, so you kinda have to play in a big cities if you want your defense to be small enough for squad to defend. (It surprised me that you could build the greenhouse structure without adapting a building. I wish more buildings had this option, hell I wish we could just build buildings, period. Give us a set building list we can build from the ground up and a lot of issues would be solved IMO) - Saddest research tree I've ever seen, making the knowledge building absolutely useless. Missing simple upgrade research. (My only problem is when you spawn in a Map with lots of Research Books, it's fine, but as soon as you run out and gotta go into an out of bounds area, you will notice you go to a research block and it will take MANY DAYS to Scavenge, also, it will provide VERY few books, like 1 - 3 per location from what I noticed.) - Levels are confusing. It's so easy to go from rookie to experienced, but going from experienced to veteran takes exponentially longer, even if the squad do nothing but shooting zombies, and it's not even worth it as you'll lose the squad before you're even halfway there. There's just no level bars to let you know the progress of leveling up and the progress is too inconsistent from one to another. Also, please buff the buffs of the level; they barely has any impact. (Had no idea about this, but omg that' wild) - There's no variety in zombie types. I would like it where, the stronger the zombie is, the less they spawn in group, so for example, the human type zombie is weak, but makes up with numbers, wolf is stronger but there're less in a group, and the alpha is the strongest but there's only one in a group. - Raiders and zombies don't attack each other at all. (I've seen Zombies come across Raiders and they do attack so IM NOT SURE what this guy is talking about) - Need more optimizations. I'm getting a CPU bottleneck more than Cities Skylines. - Weather has no effect whatsoever, and there're only two that has incredibly basic effect. - Can't change your headquarter in default maps and can't even deadapt headquarter to move to a new one. - Brick piles provide too little bricks. (This is overlooked but it's so true. A brick pile should have upwards of 250 - 750 at least, IMO) There're probably a lot more that I can't come up as I'm writing this review. Don't get me wrong, I rarely make a review, and I really don't want to leave a negative review, but because I like this game and I want this game to be better that I have to leave this. I believe that the developers have what it takes to turn this game into a great one, and I'll be waiting for that day to change this review into a positive one, but until then, I'll leave this review as it is.

use barbed wire... miles and miles of barbed wire.. they will try to avoid it and go another way if you triple strand the wire like we did on FortBragg
