This song is one of my favorites of Aurora's, I love the story behind the lyrics "Be God in the shape of a girl Who walks this world" Aurora was in a airport terminal run down by her touring schedule and a little sick, She observed a little girl being a source of joy to those around her and her parents. This episode stuck with Aurora and became a inspiration for this song.

I heard that interview also and loved her reasoning behind the song; “What if God could be in the shape of this young girl”? Very glad to see the story has already been brought to Mike and Ginger’s attention🙏

Yeah it is a beautiful story. Here is the full quote from Aurora: indievidualist .de/aurora-2/ "On track eight you say ‘Be god in the shape of a girl’ - what does that line mean to you?" "I was at an airport, it was late, I was alone and my plane was the last one to leave. It was the year before I wrote the song, so 2016, which was a hard year for me because it was quite busy and I was sick all the time - I was in the hospital many many times. So yeah, at the airport… I was on my way home again, I felt a bit out of place, out of my own body, and then I looked at this family. I saw two very tired parents, and then this little girl - she was maybe 3 years old - and she seemed to give them so much joy, even though they were very tired. And she gave me a lot of joy. And then I saw an old couple, leaning over to look at the little girl who was smiling back at them. She seemed to interact with almost everyone at the gate, and make everyone happy. Without even knowing it. And I loved the way happiness and love can be so… simple? Don’t underestimate the power of a child. It was just very magical to see how much it affected everyone and everything. If I was to choose a religion, I would love it if god would be something that you can touch. Something like a little girl, on this earth, and not something that is far away or judges from above, you know?"

I believe that is the forest that Aurora spent a lot of her childhood in. She preferred to be alone, away from people, sometimes just sitting and thinking, creating lyrics, and sometimes sleeping on the forest floor. Her parents let her have a lot of freedom and time to be alone. They never worried about her when she was in the forest. She sometimes would realize that she might possibly be the only human to have set foot in some of the places in the forest that she wandered about in. So...even if you were to figure out where she spent so much time in, I would implore you to not go there. Allow her to continue to believe she is the only human to have stepped foot there. I doubt though, that you would be able to figure out where her forest sanctuary actually is.

Thank you, M&G for all the lovely Aurora reactions. My God, I hope you get to visit that forest and Nidarosdomen one day. I want to share with you what Aurora said in an interview about this song, it's so special: "I was at an airport, it was late, I was alone and my plane was the last one to leave. It was the year before I wrote the song, so 2016, which was a hard year for me because it was quite busy and I was sick all the time - I was in the hospital many many times. Something like a little girl, on this earth, and not something that is far away or judges from above, you know?" Aurora I think this shows so brilliantly how an artist's inspiration may come anytime and anywhere, and I also think this little episode at the airport reflects Aurora's deeply humanistic belief. As for coming reactions, I would like to mention some videos of hers that I find extremely beautiful, artistic and important. Maybe they could go into your list: Exist for love, Queendom, Winter Bird. (I was tempted to mention a few more, but ....)

Hi Mike and Ginger, you both are very lovely people with very good musical taste. Lately i am feeling quite bad, and i am finding a lot of help in a concert she did few years ago avaliable on YT and without copyright problems. I could literally die peacefully if you would react to the whole thing. It's a 58 min long concert, played in a huge Cathedral in Norway. Astonishing. The name of the concert is "Live in Nidarosdomen". I sware on God and on my family you both will never hear something better after it. If you will do the whole concert reaction, i will be forever grateful. See ya💙

Even so, you should just go ahead and watch the Doc/concert anyway. You could just do the music video for "The River" if you haven't heard it. Really glad you did this one though. She’ really is amazing, isn’t she? So is your cat, by the way…you should have him on more often. I think Aurora has a similar ability (though of course very different in style) to Floor Jansen in that they are both able to pull the emotions out of song lyrics and impart them directly to the audience through their singing. A lot of times you can feel those emotions even without really listening to the words.

@@MikeandGinger Me as well. I wouldn't even really Call Aurora particularly religious either. I would call her more spiritual. I know she does not follow any major organized religion of any kind. That's why I like the part of the song "If there is a God" I think she questions mainstream religion all the time, which I appreciate. I don't think she's really human anyway. She really is a forest nymph or a tree fairy of some kind.

I don't know if you noticed but, unlike pretty much any other song she sings, there are no backing harmonies anywhere in the live version of the song. To me, this makes the song really personal and intimate, like hearing someone's innermost thoughts and anguish. It's just one lone voice, crying out for a better world.

Ok, I did check your playlist. I could have sworn that you already heard "The River" I must have been thinking about "Daydreamer" Sorry guys. I still think you should just go ahead and watch the Doc/concert anyway. The music video for "The River" is actually pretty good, so you could just do the music video later on. Otherwise, you will have to do The River at Haik soon (and oh how sad that would make me LOL) Again, sorry guys. I totally thought you had heard that one already. My age is creeping up on me and my memory. The River is truly the only other one you haven't heard. The others are "It happened quiet", "All is soft inside" and "Runaway" which you have already heard at various venues already.

One last thing I wanted to mention before you embark on the Haik Doc/concert. The translations during the Doc part aren't always very clear. There is one spot in it where it makes it sound like Aurora is saying that she is Autistic. The translation is misleading. What she actually said was because she was a little different and did very well on her Mensa tests, the kids "Thought or assumed" that she was. Just wanted to give you a heads up, because I noticed a lot of people claiming she was Autistic because they watched this Documentary. I can honestly say that if Aurora was Autistic she would loudly and proudly share it. Anyways, again, I'm sorry for forgetting about that song you haven't heard yet. I feel bad. Guessing my memory isn't going to get any better from here.

The only song I don't like very much. Of all things, the number 8 title of her albums and thus her personally most important. But I think one title of over 65 is easy to cope with. 😁 The funny thing is that she sang this song in one of her livestreams and briefly rewrote the lyrics in a funny way. From "The World is attacked by our pain" to "is attacked by a virus". In addition, of course, herr inimitable funny way. 😁

It wasn't one of my favorites at first, but it grew on me the more I heard it. Even though I don't particularly care for songs that have any religious overtones, I still like it. I like that she is questioning things and giving her own perspective on them. She's not a traditionally religious person, so I appreciate her take on this stuff. But, I too was not taken with this song right away. I did think that pandemic lyric switch up was funny too.
