Inferno first cape with bowfa guide (simple solves) - Full run with live commentary

In this video I try to show the fundamentals of the inferno as much as possible while using a setup I would recommend for a first cape.
Possible substitutions in the setup are crystal helm/pegasians if you are confident and do not find yourself having prayer issues (though I don't recommend those over justi helm and prayer boots for first cape as the DPS increase is only marginal), and ring of the gods (i) instead of suffering (which I believe is pretty much a straight upgrade - I just don't have one on my iron).
If it is your first time in the inferno I would recommend substituting one restore for another brew, although as you get more experience you will likely find an extra restore to be more valuable.
If you keep practicing the fundamentals the waves will become easier and easier with time and you will only become more consistent. If you have any other questions that I didn't think to answer feel free to leave a comment (I always read the comments). Good luck in the inferno and you can do it!

Glad I was able to help! As I tried to show in the vid, usually either moving 1 south from the start tile or to the other corner trap tile and dealing with the wave from the north pillar gives a straightforward solve most times. Gl on your cape!

Appreciate the video, it was really helpful. Just got my cape yesterday after about 5 days of grinding and sometimes when I needed a break or just before bed I would revisit this to help keep my mind sharp on how to handle certain situations. Also don't worry about some solves not being as simple. Sometimes the situation calls for a more complex solve, and that was helpful to see too. Like wave 63 in my cape run was an incredibly bad spawn which forced me into a difficult solve, but I was able to manage it because of videos like yours.

When would you recommend using them? 12 doses would last 96 minutes so you'd have it basically during the entire back half of the inferno? How much more than a restore dose are you getting overall? Isn't it about double the dose of a restore potion?

@@KushgodSWAGLORD Prepot the first dose, just then keep using them as the previous buff expires. There's really no reason to try to save them for the latter half of the inferno, rather the opposite as you want to preserve your SRs for restoring your stats after brewing. The one exception is that if you're down to your last dose, you could save it for Zuk, and if you run out of brews you could spam redemption against healers as a last ditch effort. Use your brews first though - supplies are meant to be used. It's a little more than double the prayer of an SR at 99 prayer, more at lower prayer level. You can check the wiki for exact numbers, it's not complicated.

Yo Rob, thanks for this guide. It's really helping me. Just another question: the sound the blobs make, is it ticked with the scanning? Like can you use that as an audio cue?

Only the mage attack makes a sound when the blob fires it, and you can technically use that to know what part of the cycle the blob is on (since it will scan your prayer 3 ticks later). The sound of the attacks hitting you are inconsistent to use as audio cues since their travel time depends on your distance to the blob.

That's why lightbearer can be better imo. The +20 defence you get from suffering makes probably less of a difference throughout your run than the constant blowpipe specs you can quickly unleash at the start of each wave to kill stuff fast. And it's definitely better for the Zuk kill.​@@Robpar6

@@1tubax I used lightbearer myself on most of my kc, but I like to recommend suffering or ring of the gods to learners since they are more likely to have prayer issues when taking so many brews. Lightbearer is still a fine choice though if you can make use of the extra specs and find you aren't running out of restores

@@Robpar6 I feel like it's better for learners to focus more on learning to 1t and lazy flick consistently so they can conserve enough prayer to make lightbearer worth, than focus on solving waves with offticks. It's more consistent overall since with offticks it's very easy to go out of rhythm under pressure. Edit: ofc every learner should absolutely know how to solve stacks with 1t alternates.

I had mastered the 2-tick flick cycle for blobs, but was searching for something more relaxed to do on the calmer waves. The way you tick the blobs leaves me a bit confused tho. Could you explain more in-depth what you're doing? On what ticks do you click the prayer and how do you know when to switch? Trying it made me fall back to dying in earlier waves... (Not your fault, just a bit confused on how to implement it and I can't seem to find the rationale behind it).

Is it right to state: when you step out with ranged: he sees ranged on tick 1, which means he will mage on tick 4. So you have to pray magic on tick 2, and change on tick 5 to ranged, because he will see magic on tick 4?

@@PatserSteve I think you are confused because the first time the blob sees you, it starts midway through its cycle (the scan tick). When the blob attacks it scans your prayer 3 ticks after but the first time when the blob sees you it scans immediately. Another implication of this is that if a blob spots you at the beginning of the wave you can switch to the opposite prayer as soon as you see it to pray against it the first time.

@ Blob cycle goes attack -> empty tick -> empty tick -> scan tick -> empty tick -> empty tick -> attack again (repeating the cycle). So in your example, when the blob sees you (tick 1) that is the scan tick, which starts in the middle of the cycle as I was trying to explain. So, it would see you and scan you on tick 1, attack on tick 4, scan on 7, attack on 10, etc

For first cape, yes. It helps during the waves when you can't pray against everything at the same time and also is good for tanking jad healers and the sets at zuk. Crystal helm does give a slight DPS boost but it is minimal so isn't recommended until you feel more comfortable with the content.

Why is keeping the south pillar up important?

It's not that it is important in and of itself, but rather the total hp of all of your pillars is the important thing as well as north pillar always being alive. You should prioritize south and west when it's safe to (and especially on the early waves), but north is always important so you should rarely let nibblers eat north pillar for too long.

That being said, if south or west pillar dies the run doesn't end but you want to avoid it happening so your pillars stay healthier into the 50s if possible. This avoids having to chase nibblers on the harder waves as much.
