Ranking All Boards in Mario Party Superstars

Mario Party Superstars has just come out so I am ranking every board in the game from worst to best. I'm ranking the boards Yoshi's Tropical Island, Space Land, Peach's Birthday Cake, Woody Woods and Horror Land. And if you're still reading, I have plenty Mario Party Superstars coming up after this including a review....

I understand that many people don't like woody woods bc of the sign switching gimmick, but personally I think that adds an extra bit of spice to the board gameplay and have never struggled too much with that board. Just stock up on triple dice sets or mushrooms to beat the signs and you'll be fine

I agree. It is a little RNG heavy but I don't think the RNG involved is too much. I think the placement of the Skeleton Key gates helps balance out the RNG a lot. Golden Pipes too.

Yeah, Woody Woods never really gives me any trouble honestly. Just make sure you win mini-games and have double/triple dice blocks on hand as well as custom dice blocks. Golden Pipes are also really helpful too (though admittedly very pricey. That's never an issue for me though since I usually have a lot of coins)

Honestly, I really like Yoshi Tropical Island. It’s easy and 2 loops but there is still a lot of chaos, while adding the whole switch sides if you land on an ! spot. Sometimes nice and simple can be very fun

I agree with your opinion and I love horror land the most just because of the day and night mechanic it offers. I only wish I would get Koopa's tycoon town board. Nice list though. Thank you for all the works put into your each and every video. Keep it going man.

they should totally add a secret bowser board (I would go with bowser land) as dlc. If they add other boards I hope mario's rainbow castle gets added (it's also linear but its so much better than the others imo). other than that Deep blooper sea, western land, chilly waters and spiny desert would also be good picks.

The amount of items available on woody woods make it possible to play strategically

My ranking: 1. Woody Woods: The most balanced map, you can overcome the sign mechanic by using items strategically, irs not that random, the sad part is that you dont have the Reverse Mushroom anymore to overcome the wrong path and as the game progresses the golden pipes are way to easy to get (but that happens in the other boards as well). 2. Horror land: Sad that they got rid of one boo, and the Big Boo (now King Boo) is way to easy to access now, still a great map. 3. Yoshi’s Tropical Island; With items is more balanced to play than the original, the most troll map of the game btw, but the toll mechanic is still annoying (and useless since you have warp blocks and golden pipes) 4. Space Land: The only board that feels like a downgrade to the original. In MP2 the Patrol takes you directly to the diagonal in the other direction, which was the fun part because you could then screw all your opponents with the laser and get their coins lost, now you land in the diagonal but only more spaces behind with the happening, making easy to abuse Boo and the item shop. Such a disappointment. 5. Peach’s Birthday Cake: Even if they improved the map by moving the Goomba Lottery and adding items, since the route is a linear one it gets boring quickly. Never liked too much this board in the original, and still don’t like it much here. They should add either(only taking the original N64 trilogy): Mario’s Rainbow Castle, Wario’s Battle Canyon, Western Land, Bowser’s Land, Chilly Waters, Spiny Desert or Waluigi’s Island (yeah I put 3 MP3 boards since they put only one board from that game)

How could you prefer tropical island more than Woody Woods, I mean, the map is small, teleport is very busted, you have a veeery easy to go boo unlike in space land/woody/horror land, and they can fuck you up a lot with the custom dice by changing the star so easily, to me that map is really bad designed.

I've been playing this game every day since release date and I honestly think it just may be the best Mario Party to date. My favourite boards are: 5: Woody Woods (I'm not a big fan of the sign gimmick) 4: Space Land (nothing wrong with it in particular, just feels a little linear) 3: Horror Land (honestly I think this board is a little overrated, but still an overall fun board) 2: Yoshi's Tropical Island (I know a lot of people think this is a very boring board, but I think the fact that Toadette can move to the opposite side of the board can make for some very interesting moments, and i've yet to play a 30 turn game, but I imagine the Toll to pass the Square Rock guy gets quite high, and I forget what he was called lol) 1: Peach's Birthday Cake (I usually don't rank a board based on the design, but I really love the visuals of this board, i'm a fan of the "strawberry" gimmick, and the fact that Toadette never moves makes it feel like a race to the end. Only thing i'm not fond of is where you have to pick a seed and see which way the flower sends you.)

Liked the vid but couldn't disagree more with the Woody Woods assessment. There's so much more thought and interesting things happening than boards like Peach's Bday Cake which is just Roll Fat, Get Dubs the board. Horror Land is just about perfect, though. Just wish the Whomps weren't frozen at night and just required bribing with extra coins or forfeiting an item or something to pass.

Two words. I DISAGREE. Here is my ranking: 5th - Horror Land - All because of the chomp call chaos on master, I hate it. 4th - Woody Woods - This map also has chomp calls, but making your way around here is significantly easier than Horror Land is. 3rd - Yoshi's Tropical Island - This map dosent have chomp calls, which I like, but it has some event spaces which act like them which is what I don't like about this. 2nd - Peach's Birthday Cake - This map is wonderful, but with one major flaw, the star stays at the same place, I'd like some challenge for it to move, but otherwise, I like this map. 1st - Space Land - THIS IS THE BEST MAP! There is nothing wrong with this, no chomp calls, the star moves, no crucial event spaces, I LOVE THE BOWSER COIN BEAM IDEA, the Shy Guy station is wonderful and everything else about this map is a massive well done to the Nintendo developers that decided to put this map in the game Do you agree?

5. Woody Woods- I was really looking forward to this board before the game came out. But there are just way too many golden pipes in play and it just ruins the whole sign mechanic. Music is great though 4. Space Land- Not a bad board at all. I really like the timer mechanic and how big it is. It’s just the board I have the least experience with, and I’m not too keen on the amount of golden pipes, albeit it’s much more manageable than Woody Woods 3. Peach’s Birthday Cake- The board is absolutely gorgeous. I love the Piranha Plant mechanic and the Bowser seeds are fun. Also no Golden Pipes is a huge plus 2. Yoshis Island- I really love the aesthetic. The thwomps make for really interesting strategies. Although golden pipes are at this board, it’s not nearly as bad as the other two. It’s a simple board, but I really like it. I also love the music. 1. Horror Land- Love this board. It’s big, great layout, there are no golden pipes, and the Day/Night mechanic is really fun. I love the Whomps and Mr I as well. The aesthetic is amazing and I love the music.

In Space Land I like to exploit the top left of the board. Get a key in the shop in that area, unlock the top left gate with said key, use the Boo to steal a star, go left from the center, rinse and repeat. I ignore all stars on the map unless I happen to pass one. If you can reliably maintain enough coins it works well. Although I haven't tried this method against human player, I got 7 or 8 stars in one game with this method, not including bonuses.

Here's my ranking: 5. Woody Woods. The sign switching mechanic is extremely annoying. Even my dad hates it! 4. Yoshi's Tropical Island. Boring board. It's not horrible, and I understand that they needed to add a 'beginner' board for the inexperienced players. 3. Horror Land. It's a good board, but it's REALLY hard. No wonder why it's labeled as the hardest one... 2. Peach's Birthday Cake. I really like this board. It's more of a actual Board Game board with your objective never moving and all. 1. Space Land. A really fun board with two cool mechanics. The Bowser Laser thing can really make a game interesting, and the Whomp Chase thing is cool too. They're all good boards, just I find Woody Woods to be the least fun.

I personally love Woody Woods a lot but then again I have a bit of a bias towards MP3, but I feel like it is a lot harder to navigate now compared to MP3 as there are no reverse mushrooms to help you backtrack a monty mole junction when you end up going the wrong way, the only exception would be the top left junction and landing on evil woody and getting the reverse dice block (which I personally think should have been an item you can obtain in the game). I am really not a fan of Peach’s Birthday Cake as I find that board to be way too boring to play on and so I avoid it all costs, I’m actually quite surprised you ranked it at #3. I’m okay with Yoshi’s Tropical Island as it’s probably one of the best MP1 boards, although that’s not saying much because in general I’ve never really been the biggest fan of MP1 boards and would much rather play on the MP2 or MP3 boards. Space Land and Horror Land are both very solid boards and honestly there’s not much to say about them that hasn’t already been said, however I wish Space Land looked a bit more visually appealing as they made everything look way too simplistic in that board. All in all my ranking would be something like: 1. Woody Woods 2. Horror Land 3. Space Land 4. Yoshi’s Tropical Island 5. Peach’s Birthday Cake

Here is my list and a short explanation for that pick 5. space land: is boring and has a bad gimmick 4. Woody woods: didn’t really mind the swap too much just a little but the other gimmicks on woody woods are good and it’s vary cool looking 3. Honestly in my opinion peach's is the worst because you have NO DECISION of where you go and since you only get ONE ITEM PER BOARD LOOP (through the one shop if you don't get a lucky or item space) you really have almost no control over anything that happens, and landing on those plants is actually more uncommon than you think.

I hate the boo mechanic on Horror Land, I wish the boo’s were always available during the day AND night. I’m fine with the thwomps changing although honestly i’d like it more if they were just like yoshis island thwomps. I wish on Woody Woods you could pay AT the sign to go the opposite direction and they would act like Thwomps on Yoshis Island in terms of becoming more expensive the more they’re used. I wish on Yoshis Island the star would change islands every time it’s bought OR you could go through both the top and bottom thwomps no matter which side you’re on. Also an item shop on the right island would be great, maybe also a koopa on that side too to give you coins - it’s just weird the left has both an item shop and koopa and the right doesn’t have either. I wish on Peach’s Birthday cake you could pay more then your opponent to take over their stealing event spaces. Almost like yoshis island. I wish on Space Land there was a jump mechanic during the cruiser chase, maybe you could have the paid ones different from the event space ones - one could be jumpable and the other not being jumpable.

I feel like all boos being available at all times would be way too broken though considering there are 3 boos and 1 King Boo. Alternating between day and night requires more strategy and planning in order to successfully pass them at the right time.

my list: 5: Peach's Birthday Cake this is the only board in the entire history of MP that I would say is fully luck based. at least on some boards you can time your item usage to benifit you and there is some amount of skill, but everything on this board is decided by luck, and i dont hate that because im salty I lost, I hate it because it just feels really lacking in strategy... you dont get the fun of planning your enemy's demise, and it feels like the dice is playing the game, not you. 4: Woody Woods I would love this board if it didnt completely rely on the last 5 rounds. in the last 5 rounds, golden pipes can be bought, and that's the easiest way to get a star. I honestly love the sign switching gimmick but it makes it SUPER difficult to get any stars, and it makes the board uneventful and slow paced at times. 3: Space Land really fun but really large. I know a lot of MP2 boards have the size issue but this one stings especially hard (not as bad as western land tho). it's a fun board but the size is WAYYYYYY too big and it makes it a trudge to go across the board. also bowser's space station blast doesn't normally affect people. idk if i'm just unlucky, but I never have dealt with anyone being in the way of the lazer when it's set off... 2: Horror Land it's a pretty fun board but the layout isn't my favorite. I'm more of a small-board fan because it leads to more chaos, and I like gimmicks that are more impactful, but don't really keep you from getting the star.... this board's nighttime gimmick is kinda just there, I never feel like it ever effects the gameplay a ton. its kinda meh ig 1: Yoshi's Tropical Island this board is chaos. I just love splurging all my coins on the thwomps and screwing over the rest of the players. it's such a joy to play with friends, and still has a decent amount of luck involved! as I said, I like gimmicks that are big but dont lock off the star, and thats what this board has! the thwomps are fun gimmicks and can be amazing if you spend like 50 coins on them, but you can always switch the side the star is on if you play your items right! this is what I look for in a MP board!

My ranking would be something like 5) Yoshis Tropical Island (1/10) Really didn't like in Mario Party 1 and is somehow even worse in superstars. The thomp tolls don't even matter as the vast amounts of coins being tossed around make everybody always able to afford them (aswell with the 1/2 the toll on the lucky space). Also boo is very commonly visited so lots of time is just going to be spent stealing stars instead of purchasing them. 4) Space Land (6/10) A lot better than Tropical Island but still is probably the most bog standard board they could've chosen from Mario Party 2. The laser seems less cruel (because obtaining coins is very easy) than before and the higher coin count allows a lot more boo steals than in the OG. Glad they didn't choose Mystery Land instead but still not the most optimal choice from MP2 as Pirate/Western Land would've been a lot better. 3) Peach's Birthday Cake (7/10) A lot more forgiving than the original (as the flower lottery used to be before the star so you would more than likely get completely screwed over from getting many stars). The addition of small plants was a good one and the lack of boo is great. 2) Woody Woods (8/10) Loads better than the original for so many reasons, 1) The hidden forest shop is always exciting to visit 2) The reverse mushroom kinda broke this board into pieces back in 2000 3) The skeleton gates actually point the way you want to go 4) Its much easier to not overshoot the gates because of the 1-3 die and the custom dice block Just a massive improvement overall, the only downside is the new theme which is a fixable as the original themes can be put in to the boards. Makes me excited to see how they could've remade Deep Bloober Sea or Creepy Cavern. 1) Horror Land (10/10) Best board they could've chosen as it's my second favourite board in all of Mario Party (1st is Goombas Greedy Gala). The boo mechanic isn't as broken as before due to the lower coin steals, big boo being replaced by king boo is awesome, the board lives up the the original in Mario Party 2.

Now that I got Mario Party Superstars and play all the boards, here's my ranking: 5. Woody Woods 4. Horror Land 3. Yoshi's Tropical Island 2. Space Land 1. Peach's Birthday Cake I really wish we got 1 board from 1-10 instead of just from the N64 trilogy (with the 9 and 10 being reworked to be play in the classic style)

If you look at the luck factor then the list should be like: 5) Horror Land 4) Woodys Forrest 3) Yoshi's Tropical Island 2) Space Land 1) Peach's Birthday Cake 3-5 not sure, but horror land is waaaay more luck based then the other ones. Addiotionally there are too much banks and item shops and luck spaces... It is so annoying. I know anybody of my friends and Let's Player who like horror land because of my points. I don't get how you punish the factor luck but then horror land is your favorite map.
